I cannot come, being that I'm in another country and all, but I am very interested in this whole media coverage. The All Day News Channel? Does that come in on satillite? If so I'll find it and record. Though I cannot be there in flesh, I will be there in spirit.

I just finished Crisis of Conscience...
by Badger inthanks to ray franz for writing it.
parts of the book have been talked about on the board before, but holy $#!+...seeing page upon page of evidence kept my jaw in a constant drop.... a few thoughts.... >franz seems to have little malice for the org, and it shows in the book.. >i looked at it with a very skeptical eye (as i do everything) and tried to see it from the perspective of a witness who sincerely believed.
i was still floored by the callousness of the comments of these people.. > control really does seem to be the watchword for these folks, and they've trained the rank and file well.

Ah, good for you. If anything will make you do a full 180 away from the Watchtower walls, that would be it! It's a very good read, very thoughtful, but merciless- Mr. Franz pulls no punches.

Do you like your name?
by Xena indesib77 started a thread about changing her name.

My name is okay. Everyone says its nice, since it'skinda unique, but I guess after hearing it a bunch, it doesn't strike me as particuarly so.

Hi everybody! ^^
by Epsilon ini must say that i have been lurking around this place for a good long while.
to know that you are not alone in your quest to escape the watchtower is one of the best ways to actually do it.. right now i'm 18, but became an unbaptized publisher at 12. i blew those elders away with my skill at parroting back the wts doctrine, and for a while, i was faithful enough in service, which i didn't really enjoy, but i had to do it to live, right?
we went to meetings regularly, even thosugh i simply dreaded the boredom and the inevitable guilt i would feel.

Actually, she has studyed before in the Knowledge book and some other book I can't remember, and now I think she's doing United in Worship. I'm just hopin she doesn't go all gung-ho. And what about if and when she gets baptized? Since she has an unbeliever, no, worse, a *gasp* apostate daughter, wouldn't she be required to kick me put since I'm 18? I read that somewhere in some old article. Just goes to show ya.

Saturday morning house to house not good enought anymore!
by XQsThaiPoes injust came from the assembly.
they critisized us for going house to house implying that it was cheating the system and just a way to get fs hours with out talking to people.
now they want jws to do mostly bus and business witnesses in the afternoon during weekdays.

Different languages? No house to house? If the WTS told all their loyal drones to begin the next crusade, well, I think that insinuating themselves into places where we can't hide from them would be a rather good start, lol.

Why no going out to lunch at convention??
by Pistoff ini asked the wife today, at the district, what the reasoning was for asking the rank and file to stay in for lunch, and not purchase the lunch elsewhere.
she stated that the reason was that some venues want the witnesses to purchase lunch from their concessions.
anyone else heard this??

I dunno the "official" reason, but we used to go to the Cow Palace in San Francisco. If I could have left that long, boring ass convention I would have taken SF any day.

How many on this board vote?
by Netty ini cant bring myself to get into voting.
i am registered, but when its time to vote, i just really never fell the urge to get there and get it done.
my husband is very political, and is always talking politics and about the importance of voting.

I'd try it, but I'm too scared of getting roped for jury duty. Doesn't that happen when you register?

SHOULD! Gods, I hated should, cause should really means: "You'd better!"
If we do this Reasoning thing, where should we start? I've already began to raid my college's library for logic books.

Oooh...replyness. Thank you, guys!
If I were to show up at my old kingdom hall all apostified after such a "promising " start...well, I have always wanted to see what a JW exorcism looks like.
"BEGONE, DEMONS!"
lol

Greetings to all!
I must say that I have been lurking around this place for a good long while. To know that you are not alone in your quest to escape the Watchtower is one of the best ways to actually do it.
Even at 13 you feel like you're not doing enough!
Long story short, when my mom stopped going to the meetings, the constant indoctinization let-up let me actually start to think. And I realized "I can't stand this." Still, even though I didn't buy all the WTS stuff, the process of coming out was quite hard. I still find myself doing rote responces to certain questions, if on;y in my head.
The downside is, my mother, a former unbaptized publisher, has picked up studying again with some sister at her job. I am worried about her- she already knows I do not agree with the JW's but now I fear that she will start trying to "save" me. That's the last thing I need.
In the meantime, I've started exercising my critical thinking skills and have begun to analyze old Watchtower articles for their emotional content and information control...taking a card from dear Blondie. I have a copy of the watchtower CD, but the old one, and I can;t get on my home computer too often. Can you find the texts someplace else?
Oh, and one more thing. I think that we should put our heads together and come up with an answer to the Reasoning book, i.e. answering every possible protest with a REAL answer. Just a thought.
