I've never heard of it, especially someone "disassociating himself FOR" something. Loose conduct is a catch-all. Can be used for anything. An example:

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm definately going to have to read up more about cults and their effects on people. I'll look for that book you mentioned Paul, Releasing the Bonds. Definately something to put a lot of thought and planning into. Thanks again for the help, its a good place to start.

The JW's dedicated a whole chapter in the reasoning book for these situations, sure some are corny, some are BS, and most don't work, but I'm sure some work some of the time. I'd think that there'd be for this situation as well.
i cant bring myself to get into voting.
i am registered, but when its time to vote, i just really never fell the urge to get there and get it done.
my husband is very political, and is always talking politics and about the importance of voting.
My first election since getting out was in June. I not only voted but assisted in a candidates unfortunately unsucsessful run. I am helping 2 friends in their bid for a municipal seat in our fall elections as well.

Currently I find it very difficult to discuss the JW organization with my wife. Once I made my position known to her, her super "apostate senses" kicked in and there became a brick wall. She refuses to discuss anything about the org. as she knows which direction I will eventually head. So my question to the group is, what are effective ways to start discussions without getting that guard up? Any ideas?
i'm not cheap, i'm not trying to scam ray's estate out of $15, i just want to download the book to my palm so i can read it when i get a chance.
i'd grab it from the library, but it's not the sort of coffee-table book i need lying around the house at this point in my life!.

i must say that i have been lurking around this place for a good long while.
to know that you are not alone in your quest to escape the watchtower is one of the best ways to actually do it.. right now i'm 18, but became an unbaptized publisher at 12. i blew those elders away with my skill at parroting back the wts doctrine, and for a while, i was faithful enough in service, which i didn't really enjoy, but i had to do it to live, right?
we went to meetings regularly, even thosugh i simply dreaded the boredom and the inevitable guilt i would feel.

nearly burst into tears.. a couple months later, him and his wife pass us in the hall and hall and sit down in front of us: not a single glance or hello.

your experience reminded me very much of a warning an elder once gave me. I had been associating with forbidden ("worldly") ones, and he started telling me about his experince with "worldy associates" once he became a dub. He told me how once started going to meetings, preaching, and changing his life habbits, that all his worldly friends stopped contacting him. The moral was worldy friends are unstable, dub friends here to stay. I asked him, "When you started studing, weren't you encouraged to cut off this association, because they are "bad association? Wouldn't that be the reason that they were no longer in contact with you? That coupled with the fact that everytime they tried to contact you that you more then likely tried to preach their ear off?" Shortly after this conversation when I went through all my problems with my family, it wasn't my JW friends who were there for me and supported me, it was these "bad associations". I often think of this when I walk down the street, and someone that I grew up with since we both were in diapers, and was best friends with, up until a couple of years ago, walks by me without even acknowledging that I exist.
