Ms. Whip, I think you hit the nail on the head. As someone who works in the media, I can vouche for the fact that the media in America (typically) doesn't care about Blacks killing Blacks or for that matter ANY minority killing another minority. Typically, the stories that generate a lot of press are tragedies effecting Whites, whether it be a murder, kidnapping, or a missing persons case.I remember when the Lacy Peterson case was big, I received a listing of missing women in the United States. Ironically, most of the women on the list were minority, there was even a pregnant Black woman who had been missing for months and I had never heard of her. *sighs*

by ScoobySnax inwho out of all you nasty old apostates (tm) will agree with me, that if you take the gb that you dislike so much, and the watchtower that you hate out of the picture, will agree with me that at the end of the day, and on the whole, jw's really are a good bunch of people.
i did my same old rekky last sunday at the gillingham convention, and will have a good look around next sunday at twickenham convention.
i've been in lots of crowds, at stadiums and arenas, but an assembly is something else, it is somehow unique, its somehow different from any other crowds, there is a deep sense of "togetherness" i've not see any where else.

Hmmmmm. . .actually, some of the JWs I knew were some of the most horrible people I've had contact with. They were some of the worst liars, backbiters, and gossips I knew. It was the main thing that turned me sour towards the organization until I learned of all of the lies the organization tells. Individually, I hated most of them and hated the organization as a whole. A lot of witnesses I knew were worse than "worldly" people.

I just think freedom in this country is going to hell in a handbasket and on scholarship. First it was this Patriot Act bull that gave the gov't freedom to access my medical records, tax records, keep a file on what books I rent or buy, and search my house without a warrant. The damned bill was supposed to expire at the end of this year, now our law makers are trying to make it permanent!?!? Now my bags are subject to be searched when I take public transportation.And I blame it all on our leaders. They let terrorist into the country, the terrorist kill a couple of thousand citizens, NOW they want to check bags and shit on the subway like that's going to stop terrorist??? I feel so safe now that I know that terrorist won't blow me up in the subway (insert sarcasm).Give me a friggin' break! They'll never stop blowing our asses up until we get out of their countries. If they can't kill us in the subways, they'll kill us elsewhere.
Am I supposed to sing a happy song now that I can be assured that I won't die in the subway?? PLEASE. Nowhere is safe, I can walk onto the street tomorrow and get blown away by a car bomb.
I guess what I'm getting at is, our leaders need to strike at the root of the problem instead of picking at the leaves. . .and no, Saddam is not the root, no matter how much our president wants us to believe he is.

But, is searching bags really going to stop terrorists? It may stop them from bombing public transportation, but they'll find other targets. I think suicide bombers will just start targeting other public areas like cafes, schools, and theaters. I mean, sure, I'll be safe riding the subway, but then I would have to worry about getting blown to peices while ordering a cup of coffee.
I hear police in NYC are going to start checking people's bags before the used the subway. Does anyone know it this is true?
