Stealing Watchtowers Thunder
JW Freak posted this year’s convention program and the release of a new book about Jeremiah. I am starting this thread to focus only on the release of the book about Jeremiah. We know that the GB makes a big deal of the release of a new book building up huge excitement and hoopla about the release.
How can we steal their thunder? Copyright law will not allow us to print the whole book on the internet and beat them to the punch.
Consider this. When the Dead Scrolls were first discovered, the translation an mss work was divided between the scholars of various religions, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Judaism etc. They started squabbling amongst themselves and it took years to finish. Because the work was so delayed, to appease those anticipating the results, each group would release portions of writings gradually. Finally someone realized that all the scrolls were available in the partial releases that each religious group had released over the years. So they collated all the translated quotations from the scrolls and published them in one book and beat the squabbling ones to the punch forcing them to publish any remaining portions.
On JWN one of the longest threads ever was about the 607/586 BCE dates. Much of the excellent refutations of the WT position centered on the book of Jeremiah. "Celebrated JW Scholars" took a beating. These arguments need to resurface. The release of the book "Jeremiah" gives us the opportunity to do so.
So my suggestion is: As soon as someone gets a copy of it, a start can be made by many of us, giving quotations from it, paragraph by paragraph, subject by subject of all the key arguments. As the book is studied at the JW book studies, we can precede them with counter arguments exposing their errors. If many of us make "fair usage"quotations from the book, they cannot nail us for breach of copyright laws. Neither could they close down a pubic forum.
I hope you get the gist without my making a long post.

i once went door to door with a 300+ lbs (fat) elder and the first guy who came out told him:"you should look like him" pointing at me with his finger.at first i didn't realise what he was talking about.at the end the man said to the elder clearly:"lose that fat and get thin like that young man (me)"the elder got embarassed and said "ok i will" (never did tho) but i couldn't stop laughing .
I was going door to door in a rooming house one evening before the book study. I didn't want to make it too obvious that someone was knocking on all the doors, so I only picked the doors where light was shining at the bottom of the doors. I knocked on one door, no answer, knocked again and a woman's voice told me that it was the bathroom.

since the term "this generation" evidently means "two generations" i think we should have our discussion of things that are evidently true.
no need to limit it to the bible, but i'll start off with one.. 1 tim.
3 "2now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife" evidently means everybody else can have as many wives as they want.
1 Tim. 3 "2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife
According to Jesus' words about divorce, these words evidently mean that the overseer has never divorced a wife in the past.
Seriously
I don't believe this text means that the overseer cannot have two wives at the same time.

to the household of god, israel, and all those who go with... may you have peace!.
i was recently directed to post some truths about the harlot, babylon the great, including who she is (i.e., those who profess to be in union with christ, but are not, and so commit fornication with the "kings of the earth" (e.g., persons such as popes, gb members, and other so-called "leaders" who believe they have been given charge over a "kingdom"... but have not... yet (revelation 17:12)... and when they are, it is soley for the purpose of destroying the harlot (revelation 17:13, 16-18)).. some have taken issue with this truth (who babylon the great is), and praise jah, our lord has given me more to share with you on that matter.
some of you may have already received this truth; however, for those who have not, i share the following, taken from chapters 8 and 9 of the proverbs:.
Selby,
Be my guest.
I wrote a post earlier, but for some reason when I looked for it later, it was not there. I guess the angels or may be the demons prevented it, but more likely I made a stupid mistake.
This is what I posted earlier:
Selby,
A baby cries at the back of a kingdom hall while a speaker on the stage is giving a public talk. Everyone hears it. For me, the sound of the crying baby is far more significant than anything the speaker is saying.
You are the public speaker on this thread. For me the replies you are receiving carry more weight even though you say your words are from head honcho himself.

ok another poster just went to the two day assembly and i just went to the one day special assembly day sunday.
at both of them it seems there was strong words against getting married.
they had on the stage a group of young men about three of them an older sister who is not that attractive but she is really nice, of course not brother would give her the time of day, and this older brother who is in his 60's and nice but very strange.. they all went on and on and on about not getting married.
Nathan Homer Knorr told a group of Gilead Graduates in the early 1950's that if they got married they were robbing Jehovah. She was troubled bly this declaration. The missionary sister who told me this was assigned to Quebec when there were mobs and much conflict. Later she married a Brooklyn bethelite heavy where she still is til this day. Her husband is on the board of directors of one of the corporations.

my sis has been studying for the past 4 months with a female jw and the same jw started whinning that she couldn't have sex with her hubby coz he's on medication, another female pioneer would tell her that she wanted to get laid but her other half is not horny or wouldn't satisfy her.isn't it wrong to talk about such things with a person who's just started associating with jws?.
p.s when my sister told me that, anger was what i felt.
Back Room Billy,
"THE SISTERS HUSBAND IS WAITING ON NEW LIGHT"
If the husband is waiting on new light, he needs to turn the switch on. A good electrician knows the switch is connected with handle pointing up to be on. It's a safety thing, down is out, up is turned on.
