Isn't this just another downsizing ploy? With computers and the internet, why do they need to maintain a branch office in Alaska. It is just another state of the US, same language, same customs etc.

prior to this alaska's number were always counted separately.

Out of Bethel and still recovering
by livingalie inhello to all im new to the site i have been looking for about two weeks now .i was at brooklyn bethel from 1994 -1999 and i worked in the barber shop office blgd.
(25 columbia heights ) .i just wanted to say hi and that many of your post have really been helpful to me as i have gone though some tough times on all levels .

I hope you realize that you have just identified yourself, to the bird catchers. You have given the years, the place and occupation you had in Bethel. It would be very easy for someone there to identify you.
If you don't give one middle finger salut, then great.
However if you don't want your identitiy known, then no doubt someone on the board here will help you back track a little.

by Nathan Natas infor the past week or so the above phrase has been bouncing around inside my head.. i think it is from a talk to a graduating class at gilead, but i cannot for the life of me nail down the source.. does this ring a bell for anyone?
do you recall when it was said, and by whom?
can you point to a source?.

Also I remember another famous statement that I remember to this day, it also is mentionned on the board here somewhere.
It was made by one of the Gilead instructors, Jack Redford.
Referring to Gilead graduates in their assigments, he said: "A" STUDENTS CRACK UP FIRST!
Also at that graduation, Knorr gave a lengthy experience, of a brother that was so deficient in mental capacity that he didn't get a diploma. (to be a registered school, with the goverment all students have to meet a certain standard and diplomas are issued.) He was sent to an easy assignment in South America where he brought umpteen thousand sheep into the fold.
"A" students get the tough assignments. How would you like to be assigned to the Muslim holy land. Pak means holy, stan means country. When I was there only one Muslim ever converted to Jaydom. All the other hundred or so came from Anglo-Indians or nominal Christians. That's the amount of increase from the days of Russell when the first JWs or Bible students arrived their in the British Colony of that time.

I graduated from Gilead in 1959. At our graduation, the Saturday night at the non-public evening for graduates only, Nathan Homer Knorr, then president of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society uttered the words to the graduating students
GO TO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS AND DIE THERE IF NECESSARY!
I will remember those words for as long as I live. I went to my assignment and damn near died of fever and jaundice. No thanks to Nathan Korr, who fired me out of the missionary home and off the list as a misssionary. Turn in my missionary booklet and leave the premises of the missionary home were his instructions relayed to his staff to write to me.
In October of 2001, I posted this question: Who said the above words?
No one replied to my post, and I was disappointed. and I forgot about the post.
Lisa and one other replied in June, 2002, but I must have missed their replies.
Today, I have been working on a project with my wife assisting someone on the board who is doing a project that involves NH Knorr. By coincidence, I came across this post from months ago.

There may be another post that I revealed this information. I know, when the suicide bombers started to show up in the middle east, that the memory of Knorr's words returned to my mind. I was again disappointed that no one saw the comparison.

a friend of mine wants a book, i dont want to ask him what it is but id like to get it for him for a surprise,.
he paints famous people and apparently this book is by a famous photographer he has done two books and its pictures hes took of famous people, i think the photographers called something like marilyn t something but i think its a man!!!!.

The man in the white rain coat beside Fred Franz is Percy Chapman the branch servant of Canada at that time. A couple of years later he was removed and demoted by Nathan Knorr. He was a close associate of Leo Greenlees. It was never revealed why he was demoted to toilet cleaning. He got married a short time later.
The court case was in Quebec City around 1958. Franz was brought in to try and get plenty of Jehovhah's Witness doctrines into the court records. At one point he was speaking in a low volume voice and sort of lulling the court to boredom. Then he loudly said, and that's why the Catholic Church is a WHORE!! The opposition lawyers exploded with objections!
Most of the others in the picture are pioneers that came from around the province to witness the court case.

It is a court case. The picture was taken after the case was over and the people were leaving.
Glen How was the lawyer at the court case, but he is not in the picture.
The guy standing beside Franz can tell Glen How what to do.

I have just learned how to post photos and avatars on the forum. It is about time. I posted the above picture, but couldn't figure out to write a comment and so I replied to it.
The reason I am putting this picture on here is to find out if anyone recognizes anyone in this picture. Of all the people I knew back in the days I was as a Jaydub, I wonder if any others have left the Borg. I don't remember some of the names of people in this picture. I didn't take the picture but I was there. If someone recognizes people here, then I know that someone on this board reading this has left the camp.
Do any of you have other pictures of showing groups of JWs that one could recognize?
