JoinedI left JW's when I was 17, and moved in with my Mom who had been disfellowshipped. She was going to DA herself but the elders advised her not to do this but to be disfellowshipped, because it would be easier on her children and than once she was DF our family was advised that we should not associate with people that are DF. Even if this person is your mother and you are still young children. Of course everyone came to our aid to help my dad care for us and it was great as a kid having all these people around you but now that I am married and have children of my own and look back it was unhealthy and people were not helping our family but trying to control it. This is always the way everything is the whole congregation knows every stupid thing you do as a teenager and instead of being disciplined by your parents you are chastised by a whole community of people for doing things they all do themselves or have done at some point in there lives and as you get older you realize how unloving this behavior is and how unforgiving JW's can be. So this is just a part of my story, it tends to be a theme commonly occuring amongst ex JW's.
