Thank you all for your insights. There certainly has been much gossip concerning me but being I don't know this sister other than hello and goodbye it's strange that she acted that way. For those who are unaware Jury Duty is very much acceptable. Bethelites have been called and have served on cases. In NY they pay $40 a day and they can walk to the courthouse.

I noticed a sister from my old cong. area. I never knew her, but everytime she saw me she would have a big smile and greet me warmly.
As I'm headed in her direction, she is smiling somewhat and nods a hello, so I say to her: "Oh, they got you too?" At this point her face freezes and she lifts her hand in a wave off gesture so I keep walking. Later as we're getting our attendance papers she has to walk past where I'm sitting. She walked by like she was headed to a firing squad. Eyes straight ahead in the "keep your eyes on the prize" style.
What do you think? Maybe she's DF and knows she shouldn't speak to me? I'm still in "good standing" just a spiritually weak, inactive publisher. What kind of encouragement is that for me? Now I'm stumbled!

Special Meeting on 4/27/03 ?
by robhic ina friend told me she wanted to attend a special meeting today, sunday april 27. her health has been bad for the last few months so she hasn't attended anything except the memorial in about 6 months.
why this meeting was referred to as "special" wasn't mentioned.. since the jw like to march in lock-step uniformity, i am assuming this meeting is going to be the same country (world) wide?
is a local meeting being special allowed if all other meetings are not (for the most part)?

This was the "special" talk which is given every year after the Memorial as part of the recruitment drive.

I fell asleep when I sat in on a study. When I was conducting a study Brother Moske (DO) fell asleep. I woke him up once but let him sleep when he dozed off again.

the B part
by ChrisVance inlooking back it seems hysterical that during the watchtower and bookstudy one had to be careful not to answer the b part until after the conductor asked the question.
just another example of how structured everything is in that cult.
"let everything take place by arrangement" to the nth degree.

I was always amused by the conductors who would call out multiple names so the microphone holders could be in place. Then you would sometimes hear a string of "same comment."

More Watchtower Begging And Dumbing-Down
by metatron inthe latest kingdom ministry (may) has a few changes.
first, it has an insert called "international kingdom hall building in some european lands" - designed to extract more $ from the friends.
the announcement section tells people how to write checks payable to "jehovah's witnesses" for donations - but...
-
benext
Is this mentioning of the donation arrangement (which many don't) in connection with telephone witnessing?

Can Baptisms be anulled?
by Azalo ini was baptised when i was 12 years old and i dont feel like at that age i was mature enough to take such a drastic step.
i dont think its right to be df'd for something that i never really did since the baptism is really only a symbol of the dedication and i never did that.
i just was going along with the flow.

The fact that the organization makes the elders go over the questions in the OM book with baptismal candidates then meet to decide whether or not a person (regardless of age) can be baptized would make the question moot in their eyes.

Comment to JW's on latest KH Meeting (Please add your comments!!)
by bk62 ini again went to the sunday meeting with my wife, in order to "keep abreast" and look for any flaws to exploit.
lo and behold, this was a "special" meeting b/c the "circuit overseer???
" was there to put his spin on things.

bk62, when other religions use the word or title "God" they usually mean Jesus. The Witness use of the name Jehovah is to distinguish in the minds of the hearer who they are referring to. In a meeting at the Kingdom Hall both might be used with no confusion. Many speakers will use both. It may have struck you as strange because of your unfamiliarity with the meetings.
