Osorto was one of several elders in the church's Spanish-language congregation until last year when he was "disfellowshipped," or kicked out of the church, after the rape allegations surfaced, according to court records.
So there were 2 witnesses to the rapes?....or he admitted to it but wasn't taking responsibility and the elders had some kind of backbone? If the elders do testify I'm sure it'll be something to hear how this all worked out.

i had heard of the murder before, but i didnt realize there was cult influence.
it seems the yates had gotten mixed up with a man who preached the bible and was a self proclaimed prophet.

It says at the top of the page that the info is disputed but a lot of what is written here I heard or read on regular newscasts or reports. I think it's disputed because the person that wrote it didn't stay un biased in tone.

I heard she was a devout Christian and was a part of a small group following a guy that thought women were to blame for the trouble in the world and that you're (as a woman) supposed to have as many children as possible. But I heard different things like Andrea Yates followed this but her husband didn't or that her husband believed in this and pressured her into it....or her family (parents, brothers, sisters) believed in this and led her to it......regardless though, you're right gringojj, it's probably not the total cause but it didn't help any.
for those who vote in the united states, election day presents a series of unique challenges.
waiting in long lines, problems with the voting machines, mass confusion, issues with the weather and the like.
many at work or on thier way to work often choose to bypass the importance of exercising thier right because of the sheer hassle of trying to whittle away time in order to get this vital work done.
I really think it should be a holiday. I voted in every election day since I turned 19 but with most of these times I barely made it before the polls closed because of school and work schedules.

my dad goes to meetings with his wife that he paid for through a service that gets indonesian (and others too i'm certain) women who will be happy to slave for a man in the us as opposed to overseas where women are even more so possessions of men.
he sits there and comments and goes in field service and gets sucked up to because he has money, that is the only reason.
i have a cousin there who also is at the same meetings, he's much older than me of course, but he sits there with his wife, who he became involved with as he went to her house on sheperding calls as her daughter died of cancer at 16. then eventually he left his wife for her and married her, my best friends mother who was married during all of this.. before all of this we have my dad dating a 12-14 year old girl (took place over a couple of years) as the elders were telling my mom she needed to go back to her husband and be in subjection like she supposed to be.

My mom thought it was her duty to be a housewife even when she had no house and was trying to find a place for her 5 kids to sleep after my dad skipped state to avoid child support (even though he was supporting kids belonging to all his girlfriends)...well she had a lot of rethinking to do.
