Very true sweet tee.
I really think they are coming to a crossroads situation. I think this has happened with mainstream Mormonism already. It's possible that yhe JWs will loosen up as well but...I'm not so hopeful because there's such a tight grip on individual JWs. This is shown by what you've stated--JWs are afraid to make connections with others (JW or not) because they might be told on for the most minor thing like having a strong friendship--which might be translated as--building a loyalty stronger than the one with the WTS.
The WTS is like a jealous boyfriend or girlfriend. They can't stand for you to have any connection to others.

What a wonderful organization it would be if ....
by sweet tee inthe organization of jw's would do better to encourage real love and fellowship among the brothers.
but suppose, just suppose the borg were to write something like this in a wt study article:.
"in these times of fear and insecurity, it is imperative that we draw closer to one another.

Thanks Chrystal, I'm sorry about my cousin too. He was a kind and decent person...and I'm not sure what happened.
Am I battling you for the most dysfunction? NO...BUT I'd win hands down. You're funeral story is pretty funny though :) -

I attended my cousin's funeral last week. His body was found last month in Mexico--that's all I really know. He was 2 years older than me and not familiar with the JWs that much. Anyway, he told his Catholic mom some time before his death that if he ever died before her he wanted a Wiccan burial.
You know, I'm not religious and not into that Wiccan stuff....but I don't think my cousin was either. BUT judging from how my JW (the couple that attended) and right-wing militia type relatives dealt with the funeral (they were really angry it wasn't a JW or plain christain thing)...I'd say he got the last laugh. It was weird, but it was good.
I told my sisters and my mom if I die before them, I want all my redneck relatives invited to my stonch muslim burial...even if I'm not muslim. -

ya, I always ask for a supervisor. I learned this last year when I received a recorded message saying my flight had been cancelled...this was 6 hours before it was supposed to leave and I paid for it 2 months prior. Anyway, I had to call a number left on the recording (United Air is really good like that) and so I get this person telling me the flight was cancelled and all the flights for the following 5 days were booked...she tells me this while I'm looking at online booking for United and see there are plenty of flights to Seattle with plenty of room. I pointed this out and she says, "that's not what I see here" ...I started cursing and telling her if I could buy it online it was available...or they should make something available since I already paid. She still played dumb and I finally asked for her manager. Got on a flight that left an hour after the original one booked.
I know, this story was long winded but it was two weeks before Christmas last year and I was homesick...and I'd already paid and shouldn't have had to beg for a flight back home and get an "oh well, can't help you" attitude in response. -

RE: blood issue and media.
by avishai inplease send letters to stephen bates requesting an article on this issue.
many of you may not see immediately how important this matter is.
beyond the other legal ramifications, i.e, the wts lying about secular info., intentional deception, etc., the blood issue is a huge one.

"Can you also please give us a time frame involved. Knowing three JWs that have died sounds impressive but not if it is over 40 years of being in."
I was raised in the truth until I was 15. 15 year time frame. Both of my sisters nearly died in that same timeframe. -

I could care less about statistics. What I know is one of my cousins died at the age of 4 because her parents refused blood. I also know of 3 other people that died from our congregation that died because they wouldn't take blood. Both of my sisters nearly died as well, my older sister got in a car accident when she was 18 and needed her spleen removed, as well as a number of other things fixed. Luckily for her the doctors were able to get it all done without blood. But she still lost a lot of blood.
My younger sister had an accident when she was 5. My mom said she was going to refuse blood...all I remember is walking down the hallway and seeing the doctor (our pediatrician) livid with my mom. I didn't understand what he was saying (he was from Pakistan and had a thick accent) and he was mad. The end result was my sister got the transfusion because our doctor wasn't going to take no for an answer and...but also because my mom at the time wasn't as deep in the religion as she got later. She blamed him later for making her break the rule...but after she left the JWs she realized he saved my sister's life and wrote him a long letter thanking him for it. -
