If they banned caffeine they would have to throw the book in and finally declare themselves Mormon.

What if caffeine was banned for JWs?
by undercover ina post about caffeine and coffee in the "what if the wts banned alcohol" thread jogged my memory.... back in the 70s sometime (i can't remember if it was pre-75 or post-75) a rumor started circulating around our area that at the next convention the wts was going to add caffeine and caffeine products (coffee, coke, etc) to the list of banned substances (tobacco, blood).
of course, it never happened, but for a couple of months the rumors were hot and heavy.
the rumors were easily believed by a lot of the dubs because of the "up" effects caffeine can give you and besides, the mormons banned it, there had to be a reason.

i thought i'd best make a new thread rather than add my message to the vigil thread, for example, as it might not otherwise get noticed.. yesterday afternoon i was allowed home from the hospital - but only until wednesday morning!
as many of you will know, i have been in christie cancer hospital in manchester, england, ready to undergo a stem cell transplant (in my case, stem cells taken from my blood to be returned later).

Ian, I haven't been on JWD for some time now...life's been busy. But I just logged on to see what's been happening in the land and read your thread. I've thought about you over these months and am sad to hear you are in the hospital again BUT I'm glad that you are feeling better.

i was perusing the official website and was astounded to see that under "humanitarian efforts".
they havent updated since 9/01/05 about the hurrican relief.. you would think if they had an organized effort of relief that they would have updated the katrina info by now!

Good to hear from all of you. I started a new job at the end of January that's been kicking my ass and I'm trying to move--although that seems to be falling through at the moment.
FHN- I'm going to read your history and try to post if I think I can add something worthwhile. Hope whatever it is will pass soon.
