I agree OnTheWayOut. I think if she were able to live on her own and support herself they would put more pressure on her to move.

My JW roommate and the false religion tract
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate who is disabled was in the hospital for a couple of days last week (nothing too serious).
one of the 'sisters' from the hall brought her a few of the tracts to hand out while she was in the hospital (like to nurses and whoever).
she hasn't been to the meetings for a while because she hasn't been feeling well so this was the first time she had seen them.

So they are still together but live apart? Just so they can be JW's? I think that's insane. It just show's me that they are followers of man made rules.

Jayhawk1....
I don't know if the CO knows about me or not. I know the PO and his wife know (does that mean he would tell the CO?) A few days before her baptism both the CO and the PO came to our house and met with her for a little while. Maybe he was just looking around to see if everything looked okay to him.

Thank you for your kind words Warlock. I guess they way I look at it is that if I were in her shoes, I would hope someone would help me. Some of my friends think I'm being taken advantage of. I pretty much support her financially, but I know what my heart is telling me to do. She's a friend and I'm not going to turn my back on her. And I do enjoy her company....we get along great. She doesn't work but she keeps the house clean and the clothes washed and that's a lot for someone in her condition...so you can't say she doesn't contribute. I've gained about 20lbs since she moved in....she makes the best spagetti!

One of the pioneer sisters came out to the house sometime last week...but couldn't get her to the door (I think she was asleep). I wouldn't say they weren't concerned about her. The PO and his wife came by and they didn't leave any tracts. Some others came by also. We live way out in the country so a lot of people don't know how to get to our house.

Her family is not JW (she's the only one). She is disabled and I'm her caregiver (and I'm also a lesbian ). One elder suggested she move but she's said she's not going anywhere. We've known each other for years and get along very well. She can't drive (epilepsy) so I have to take her everywhere, even her meetings. I don't go with her, I just drop her off and pick her up. We are not in a relationship....I don't know if they could threaten her with disfellowshipment if she doesn't move or not. She just got baptized this year and I'm the one that made sure she got to all her studies (it took about 1.5 yrs). The PO and his wife know about me and they are just as nice to me as they can be (they may talk about me behind my back, I don't know). I guess it's a strange situation....but that's our life right now.

She hasn't been to the meetings for a while because she hasn't been feeling well so this was the first time she had seen them. Anyway she asked me to please take them home so the JW's would think she had given them out...she said she wasn't about to give those things out to the people working there. She thought that it would be rude and she just wasn't going to do that. I laughed and said okay....I took them home and threw them away.

Are associations with worldly people a matter of concience?
by brunhilda40 ini am really struggling right now with a jw friend of mine, she always told me that her association with me was a matter of consicence (i am a lesbian).
of course out of nowhere her husband forbids her to associate with me... i have posted before on this topic on the friends board.
i really am trying to understand the complexities of jw.

Brunhilda40,
I'm also a lesbian and I have a roommate that is a JW. We've known each other for over 20 years. After her baptism, the JW's suggested that she find another place to live but she's not going anywhere. I take her to all her meetings because she has epilepsy and can't drive. I don't think they will push it very far because she can't live on her own right now and I'm her primary caregiver. My story is so long....I could write a book. You can PM me if you would like.

JW's and Girlscout cookies
by oppgirl63 inmy jw roommate and i were watching boston legal the other night and one case was about someone being fired for their religious beliefs.
when one of the lawyers was talking to the jury, he mentioned many religions and the odd, quirky things about them.
he did mention that if you were a jehovah's witness you couldn't buy girl scout cookies.

When one of the lawyers was talking to the jury, he mentioned many religions and the odd, quirky things about them. He did mention that if you were a Jehovah's Witness you couldn't buy Girl Scout cookies. My roommate said she had never heard such a thing. I told her I had read that many times on the boards I read. She buys the cookies and says she will continue to buy them. She also asked another friend of her's last night (also a JW) and she too had never heard of it. I told her to ask the two pioneer sisters that attends her KH about it and see what they say. Is this something that they stress in other parts of the country (I'm in the Southeast)? She pretty much thought that it was not true. I'm suprised she never heard of it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to print out this thread and show it to her.
