Why then did the Jews pick up stones to stone Him?

Stoning was a punishment for blasphemy. In THEIR eyes, Jesus was blaspheming. Jesus wasn't a liar or a lunatic so one possible answer remains. Jesus' claim that He is God Almighty. "I AM". There is no OTHER reason for them to stone Jesus. Otherwise they might have stoned John the baptist for claiming that he was the "voice of one calling in the desert". And they should have stoned Paul for preaching that Jesus was the Messiah.

No, stoning was for a person who committed blasphemy, or at least in the eyes of the Jews. Jesus was perfect; He declared that He was God; if He committed blasphemy then His work on the Cross is worth nothing which means prophecy failed and that means the bible isn't true which means we're ALL in trouble.

and jdubla, go take English 101 again. You obviously miss the point if you have to nit-pick all the time. And if you aren't going to listen to scripture then maybe I have to resort to "absolutely ridiculous and absurd comparison[s]" for your brain to understand. At least you're laughing. it's the best medicine for your condition.

At present, the term "Mr. President" refers to George Bush. Let us say for example that JFK was God; this isn't blasphemy, just and example. Anyhow, "Mr. President" is used for both George Bush and JFK, but George Bush is NOT God in this case and would have to be JFK.

I believe the trinity IS essential to the salvation issue if you want God to save you because you can have the right name all you want, but the right "God" isn't necessarily going to be there for you and God justifies man by his heart (Romans 10:9-10).

Interestingly enough, Jesus makes His claim to the tetragrammaton ("YHWH" or "I AM [THAT I AM]"). How does ___Scorpion___ respond to the following?:

John 8:53-59 (NIV)
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?"
54 Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.
55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad."
57 "You are not yet fifty years old," the Jews said to him, "and you have seen Abraham!"

Scorpion... exactly, but keep in mind that truth is Absolute. And if my message to you was a figment of your imagination, then why did you not ignore it? Which brings me to my next point. God must be real to oneself in order for oneself to believe.

Circumstancial Evidence is INCONCLUSIVE evidence. How do these people know that you are not trying to manipulate them like the WTS does to people. I would appriciate it very much if you showed some love and compassion and stopped slandering my name around here. I am not a liar. You may not like me very much but that does not give you the right to harrass people at your leisure.
