  Pre Armageddon Preparation.

  are there jws who prepare for the tribulations they assume are around the corner?

  when i visted the us once in 1999 i met a few guys who were expecting a global meltdown due to the millenium bug.. as a consequence they had generators, guns, ammo, tins of food, bottled water, fuel, all kinds of stuff to help them through a civil disorder situation.

  does anyone know or remember any jws who have prepared like this?

  Yeah some of your posts make me laugh. I'm not that big on the "lets argue the toss over the exact date of the destruction of Jerusalem" type threads I'd rather laugh about how stupid life in the truth is and you're threads tend to deal with that. Kilts, fights in the cong and stupid reasons to get bawled at :) neat topics

  im getting a bit sick of it of late to be honest.

  i hardly know anyone that has come into the truth from witnessing recently and i certainly never get any biblestudies.

  i guess the internet is doing it's job...... this myspace forum is a sickening, twisted picture of the still-disillusioned - it's great.

  Did a lot of your health problems clear up after you left the JW?

  i notice that so many at the hall have these vague, chronic diseases or afflictions that make it hard for them to go to all the meetings or out in regular service.

  some get all sorts of sinus problems.

  others have chronic fatigue.. did these clear up after you left, indicating that in many instances these were psychosomatic?.

  i don't want to start a thread judging people here i'm more interested in your experiences and beliefs without people starting to fight.

  do you still hold certain org views, are certain things taboo to you even though you may be out and have been out for years?

  think they will handle it the same way all of us are handling it.

  the society scares its members into believing that the spirit world is a dark place occupied by Satan only when in reality this might not be the case at all. Have you ever looked into it yourself? who told you it was wrong? If not why haven't you looked into it?

  I dont know whether you were brought up as a JW or not but I was as were plenty others and childhood was a frightening time; frightened of the demons, frightened of the persecution, frightened of armageddon in case I didnt get through, frightened of satan, frightened of the elders, frightened of apostates as well as being frightened about all sorts of other stuff which I cant remember.

  That sounds like a pretty frightening childhood

  I grew up in the truth but never quite got into that mind frame, I never believed all that rubbish about possessed Barbie's, books and second hand clothing, that kind of thing used to make me angry that people where spreading what I now know to be JW superstition. Something though scared me about spiritualists, don't ask me what, I don't know or cant remember.

  I do remember having to work with a spiritualist once though and I remember not wanting to and instantly disliking him based on his appearance and religious views.

  There was something not quite right about him, he was old and haggard beyond his yrs stunk of cigarette smoke and had yellowed teeth. There was just this unwholesome aura around him that gave me the willies and I wasn't the only person on the site to feel this way about him. He was my first contact with a spiritualist and to me he reeked of the darkside and probably re-enforced everything the org had told me.

  Have I looked into it?

  No not really, I personally think think that if you ignore what the society says and take away the demonic threat then all you're left with is a lot of old superstitious mumbo jumbo. Show me a ghost and I might start believing.

CO sez that he knew a bro who was a massage therapist & it made him gay & that he got aids, & finally returned to the truth, but was dying, and I just better watch out that it did'nt make ME gay.
