  I really like the Plymouth Deli not far from Bethel. As far as health, thank god I did not have a problem.

  I G-jobbed at the farm and not in Brooklyn. I strung barb wire on a sheep farm, mowed lawns. Even hustled at pool in one of the road houses in the mountains. After all I had a car to support.

  One last note: If you left before your time the Society would send a letter to your draft board stating that you were no longer a full time minister! What a way to treat volunteers.

  As far as married brothers, they never had an all night watchmen duty. Their excuse was because of the needs of their wife at night. I'm not kidding. Any exbethelites want to verify this. I found this out at the farm when I had weekend duties at farm 2. The warped thinking and reasoning of the Society still amazes me.

  I remember that when someone jumped off the Towers. He hit the window sill of my room and this knocked him toward the street sign. I had a bunch of potted plants on the sill.

  Do you remember when Phil Wilcox got his hand in the press and it took off a finger? I think it was press 35. I pulled the rollers out of the color section and saw his finger fall down.

  Do you remember the "Mr. David Convention" at the St. George Hotel? That was my first introduction into the gay community. I was from the back woods of the south.

  I was on the third floor of the Towers. It looked out the front of the hotel above the entrance. My room mate was Joel Reed. We had our own bath room, each had a walkin closet. Not bad.

  New boy do you remember Norman Dignard and his make ready crew? Ha Ha. What was your impression of Richard Wheelock?

  I roomed there when I first got to Bethel. It was high on the bid list. Roomed at Towers mostly.

  I think I remember you. I worked on press #2 across from Wheellock's office building one.

  Press room "animals". I remember being called that. Pressman were a different breed from all the others in the factory.

  Eugene Alcorn!! "Corn" is what I called him as we worked on press #8. He called himself ni--er charley, when I was introduced to him in the press room. He was wild!! Once he bent over to adjust the press rollers I shoved a broom handle up his ass, there was a hole in his pants. He had a sense of humor about it. Could I tell some x rated stories about him!

  after doweling’s committee meeting many of us got job changes out of the laundry.

  i guess they wanted to bust the trouble makers up.
