That One Defining Moment That Changed Your Life.
by new boy init seems that many times in life there is a moment or an action that changes your whole world.
it could be just a look that someone gives you.. many times it can be something rather small.
something hardly noticeable by anyone but you.

From a religious cult stand point they HAVE to have two classes! This is how they get their power + money. After all they think were stupid.

Often times when you want to understand someone you need to look at the enviorment that they were exposed to when growing up. The one thing that Russell experienced that had to be big was the civil war, since he was born in 1853. He had to be a teenager toward the end of the war and no doubt had read the accounts of the battles and knew many who had lost loved ones, if not hearing first hand accounts. This had a big influence on all as nothing like this had happened before. Couple this with the industrial revolution and you have a perfect storm of sorts that will make people think and try to find answers for where this world is going. This is one of the reasons people joined groups that had an answer (read Masons). Others came up with answers of their own such as Russsell although he plagiarized most of his writting. Also look at the word usage he used to described thoughts and this will also help you to understand the man. Many people were not just stoic but cynical after the war.
The question: Did he laugh or joke? You bet.....all the way to the bank
Did he play jokes on people? Big time......He started a cult and lead them down a rat hole!

I have been following your situation from the post, and can sympathize with you. I faded 30 years ago and there is a price to pay, but morally I felt I had to be in a position to look for and help others in the same situation. I still keep contacts in the org for this reason.
As far as the wife, she is still in but she knows my thinking. Example: Wife says..... Why don't you tell the elders of your questions! Whats a matter, are you scared!
Me: Yes.......what does that tell you about the organziation we are in.
Wife looks at me at that moment speechless. I could tell in her eyes that she got the point and knew I was on to something. She never approached the subject again and would not "tell" on me.

So how did you end up in the press room? The press room was much better in that you had a lot more freedom, if you were an operator. -

Sparky1......I also knew Phil Wilcox and had a lot of respect for him. He was in my opinion one of the FEW balanced individuals in position of responsibility. PS...I remember when he lost his finger to an accident in the press room. He would ask me to help him when working on his car. He gave a special talk at the assembly hall a few years back and this is one of few (or should I say rare) times I went. Only to see him again and talk old times.
Ed Kostacheck......What a piece of work. I understand he and his wife left Bethel (asked to leave) many years ago. I asked why or what happened and the only responce I got was "he died". He was not dead so I interpeted it to mean he was apostate?
