Be the total exact opposite of whatever it is they are being taught. Show interest in what they are learning but always caution them to be careful and to think about the stances they adopt. Even if they manage to get in, this type of approach will ensure that you will always be a part of their lives, which is what is most improtant, imo.

It's all a matter of perspective, really.
A lotof people at that time may have sensationalized Jack Johnson dating white women and saw the fact that he didn't mind being seen in public with them as "flaunting". I say he was just being a man and if any flaunting took place, he did it because she was his lady, not because she was white. Same with Emmit Till. He grew up in a place that was a far cry from the place his relatives inhabited. It was nothing for him to flirt with white women or even have a relationship with them. Rather, than showing how much status he thought he had by flirting with a white woman, i tend to think that the buy was just hshowing he wasn't afraid to talk to them. It was probaby a normal thing where he came from. Emmit Til's later defiance of his killers further shows what kind of attitude he had towards the Jim Crow culture of the South.

I can tell you why he died. He died because of a system that allowed white men to harass and kill blacks who got out of line. You will have to explain to me how this equates with Black men seeing white women as a symbol of status.

IMO, I think this whole Political correct shite has gone way too far. It's over sensitizing the world - people are far too 'prissy' about themselves - you can't say anything for fear of 'offending' some race, culture, gender, sex, minority.

In my 'younger' days, if someone takes the piss out of you, you either laugh, answer back with something witty, or ignore them. The last thing you do is put your hand up and say 'miss, they're making fun of me'... you'd have had the piss taken for life, no friends and probably have the crap kicked out of you for being such a whinge arse.
Life is full of prejudisms...and whilst they stay good humoured and non violent - GET OVER YOURSELF AND DEAL WITH IT!!!
