The WTS fighting the internet is like the United States fighting the Viet Cong. Using all their resources in an all out battle, like Watchtower vs. Quotes, nobody stands a chance against them. But in our own grassroots community, where any JW in good standing can be an apostate, they can't stop us. There's too many of us.

Is the Watchtower Society strong enough to win this war with the internet?
by jack w incould it be that the wts actually thinks it can win this war?
i mean, they are forcing sites to close down, suing the people that run them etc.
i wonder if this is the way they want to "handle" the internet problem.

Holidays . . . the two ways to look at them for a Witness
by garybuss inholidays .
the two ways to look at them for a witness.
one, is celebration: that could mean ceremonies, rejoicing, having a christmas tree, and decorate the home.. .

Go past the witnesses around here on "pagan" holidays and they'll be woopping it up in the backyard pool - certainly not at work. I think that says it all for me.
Yeah, but how can you go to work when the damn place is closed?!

WTS vs Quotes: Requiem for a Research Web Site
by Quotes inin compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".
the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).
my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

Quotes, I remember the first time I saw your website on my my way out, and what an asshole I thought you were. It was an emotional reaction to the irrefutable use of pure fact without exposition. Your research hit hard, like a laser-guided smartbomb aimed at the base of a mountain of lies. You're a true hero. And you know why it sounds so corny when someone calls somebody a hero? It's because it's so rarely true.
Here's to you, Quotes.

Children aren't like people for crying out loud! They don't care that everyone they trust is condescendingly using their vastly greater life experience to outwit them at every turn. It's not the least bit disturbing that the parents in the article go so far as to leave fake bootprints to fool their child- they're just playing make believe! Except of course, for the fact that the child doesn't know it's make believe.
Spoken with the greatest bit of sarcasm, of course. Mad props to Scully for really getting it: preserving her kids' dignity while fostering a sense of wonder.

Were those children crying because their teacher told the truth or because their parents lied to them?

Why would Jesus' first miracle be turning water into wine?
by truthseeker ini recently wondered why jesus would use his first miracle to make more brew - any ideas?.
i mean, i thought the first miracle would have been a healing or a resurrection or something.. i'm sure the wedding party didn't complain.. is it possible that this account was really the first miracle performed by jesus?
did jesus not perform miracles before his baptism?

Transforming a stone into a loaf of bread to nourish the Son of God would be a selfish and frivolous display of power.
BUT
It's okay to call upon God's power and miraculously cater to a bunch of drunks at a party.
Riiiiiiiight.

"...But then I read the sign hung on the door. I said a quick prayer to Jehovah, and knocked on the door anyway. It turns out the previous hoseholder had put up the sign but had just moved away! The new householder had many questions about our work, and we ended up having a great conversation. He accepted the magazines, and is now one of my best return visits."

"Well, than you very much for that up-building experience."

The WTS 's fear of the internet
by greendawn inthey pressured their own followers into not setting up websites to promote the jw religion, they have demonised the internet as if on every webpage there is someone ready to destroy the faith of a jw, and they are monitoring websites that are hostile to them to see if they can find ways to legally close them down.
.
why do they fear the net so much if they have the truth as they like to parrot so often?

The fear of "spontaneous sex"
by free2beme inwhen i was young and single and a witness.
i remember often the fear older people had of putting young people together alone.
not just for dating, but even leaving them in a car while an older couple went to a return visit.

Aw geez, and here I thought I was the only sexual tyranosaurus mothers were afraid to leave alone in the car with their daughters!
