after being a jw for about 27 yrs and giving up old wordly habits...some still lurk at my door..how about you?
which is your choice of badness, i mean the serious df kind...marijuana, smoking, premarital sex, etc...anything creeping back???
?
I find this topic to be quite funny. it brings flashbacks of when my husband worked in a men's clothing store. one day he happened to meet a jw couple who seemed to really like him. they mentioned they were jws and my hubby said that his wife used to be one but wasnt anymore. the jw couple had the nerve to ask my hubby if i was a "good woman"!
Or having my mother tell me that my marriage was immoral - didnt get that one maybe she meant marrying a worldly guy was immoral (but then i was never baptised) - i never asked y she said that.
actually we live a very quiet life. leaving the jws did not leave me with the want to go out and partake in drugs, unlimited drinking binges, well i did partake in wild sex will multiple partners but that's over i'm married now with children. And i drink maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I do say bless you - my kids say that around my parents which i think is a hoot lol, and i do cuss like a sailor at times which my hubby thinks is cute and has no affect in an arguement.
but i think for the most part many who leave the jws dont end up like we were taught in the bOrg, at least not me or my siblings.

as of last weekend, two radio stations in my area are devoting all of their air time to christmas music.
from now until dec 25 i can hear christmas music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and i have two stations to choose from.
i like holiday music but it's already getting tiresome.. devon.
I love christmas music, but make a point of only listening to it after Thanksgiving.

its safe to assume that many jw's come on here and just read posts.
in fact i did it for several months before posting anything.
i have seen many, many helpful posts giving encouragement, etc.
I wasn't going to comment on this topic thinking (y bother when some jws here think we "apostates" are so bad and bitter - boohoo ) but after reading a few of the replies I thought I would put in my 2 cents. Frankly I don't care what jws think of me, but I do think that jw rank and file are being and have been misled by the society.
I'm not bitter about not being a jw since I was never baptised as one (I was only born and raised as one and as my mom tells me that doesnt count) and I really think that if jws are so bothered by the comments on this site (which last time I heard wasn't sanctioned as a proper place for good little jws in good standing to be) then maybe they really shouldn't come here.
This is a place for those who are doubting, who think they are crazy for not comforming to the bull the society puts out, for those who have left and need support, for those who only knew the jw crap for all their lives and just want to know that they are not alone. This place is open to all - yes even to jws, but please the xjw put downs in no way will ever make me think that the society's org is the place for me and mine - actually it has the opposite affect.
Also I want to say that when I tell people of my past involvement with the jws, they almost alway say "isnt that a cult?"

i am not nor was i ever a jw.
i know several who were, and do understand some of the issues and such behind that religious "sect".
Hello Gator
hi guys.
always great to hear from people who know where you're coming from.
i was raised a jw since 2 years old.
I can relate KBelly. For along time I thought I was the crazy one for not just believing all the bOrg crap. Then I left and found out I wasnt crazy, the society is. lol
And being on the internet is just so cool, I not the only one, I'm not alone.

Hi!
i've been a lurker for quite a while...had joined a couple of years ago and lost my password and finally today i got my new password to log back on the message board.
a little bit about myself: i'm a 39 year old black woman, married 12 years come december (to the same man .
i have just started to attend a church which i really enjoy and wonder upon wonders i did not melt upon crossing the threshold.
Thank you for all the warm and funny replies. People love to sing "Me and Mrs Jones" to me and it still cracks me up.
You guys really made my day.
A little more about me: I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, on the peninsula beneath San Francisco. The first congregation I remember attending with my parents was Menlo Park next door to Palo Alto.
When I get my thoughts together I will post a little more about my experiences with the bOrg, though I'm glad to say I got out before anything drastic happened and my parents were liberal but strict (quite a combo for huh?) with their girls, so nothing funny went on. But I do know of such things going on, sad as that is.

Hello All,
I've been a lurker for quite a while...had joined a couple of years ago and lost my password and finally today I got my new password to log back on the message board.
A little bit about myself: I'm a 39 year old black woman, married 12 years come December (to the same man ), 4 kids (3 boys, 1 girl) ages 10 to 1 year. Raised in the bOrg but never baptised, parents are jws (but spiritually weak - dad goes once or twice a year, mom trys so hard but can't keep up regular attendance at meetings or field service). I have 1 sister and 2 brothers (none are jws). I am a born and raised Californian but moved to central Indiana 2 years ago because of my husband's job
I have just started to attend a church which I really enjoy and wonder upon wonders I did not melt upon crossing the threshold.
So that is me, here I am...glad to no longer a lurker be.
