It's been a long time.....I'm really just passing through I wanted to post to AlanF's tribute.
I'm sorry to hear of your health issues and with you a complete recovery, cancer sucks! And it truly sucks that such a nice person as you has to deal with it. Take care dear.
I've been busy getting along with life and feeling pretty good about my decision to leave the JW's.

I understand the indoctrination charonsdog. It's a very freeing feeling for me to donate, knowing that my blood will help someone else.

A series of events which led to dealing with "the committee" opened my eyes to the sham of the JW's being nothing but a "good 'ol boys club".

the next time i see the jdubs standing or sitting by their carts sipping their coffee lattes or updating their facebook pages, i am going to approach them with the following thought process acting as an interested person.. do jw's believe the end is near?.

do you consider your preaching work to be urgent?.

why do you just let people walk by if their very lives are at stake?

I saw my first cart sitters today. It made my stomach turn, yuck! I was coming out of the local library and they were sitting off to the side, the side my car was parked on, I'm glad I had the presence of mind to not look at them. I drove right past and made it a point to not look again.
The weird thing is as I was pulling out of the parking lot onto the street I noticed (for the first time) the KH was right across from the library! I never noticed it before. It's off of a side street and sorta hidden. I've been seeing their tracts for the memorial in various places and I always make it a point to throw them away, save some poor soul from investigating it.
I'm glad I live in a place where no one knows me, I haven't had to think about all the JW stuff for a long time which is really nice.

Question about an elder and if I am crazy

ok so i have a question.

i was a very, very true believer until i saw the child molesters in my hall and how that whole thing was handled.. my husband is older than i am and had been an elder for 12 when we married.

so fast forward to 06, we are in a hall where i thought all the elders were ok at the worst and great at the best.

You've gotten some great responses here so far and the only thing I have to add is what many have already told you......NO YOU'RE NOT CRAZY!
Another think is keep reading this site anything that interest you and eventually you'll see that giving up the cult is the best way to sanity! I might suggest you read all you can from Barbara Anderson on the child abuse issues and AndersonsInfo. That will help clear up a lot for you I'm sure.

how do i turn off the formatting when i use the quote button?.

when i want to start a new paragraph and can't get out of the quote section?.

that made it worse, help!

well, hell!.

i had dizzy spells and near-fainting and nausea for a few days, so why wouldn't i start thinking about death, ya know?.

am i just very lax in my responsibilities in having no plans at all?isn't that irresponsible?

Actually they did not know and evidently still don't know my apostate stance. You see my goal was to care for my Mother as her needs were too much for the "friends" to handle along with all the other duties of the JW's. As far as my Mom knew I was just not attending, it was a classic case of don't ask, don't tell. I was serving a purpose for her and the congregation and my active baptized fleshly sisters. It was my pleasure to help my Mom.
At her final passing maybe I had the last laugh? At least I felt I beat them at their own game. And yes it was hard keeping my mouth shut some times.
