if you go to the tmz website you will see a photo of paris and her brother holding the "sing praises to jehovah" songbook.

I just saw it on TMZ too, and read the comments after............whoa! There are a lot in a very short amount of time! Some saying the stupidest things about JW's, which they are quickly coming to defeind like, "they don't take medication or have surgeries", lol The ignorance is abounding! Then there are those who are saying "let them make their own choice when they grow up". Yeah, like that's something easy to do! LMAO.........ok, not funny

Well, who knows how deep they will actually get into JW's, depends on how much guilt they are made to feel and how involved the grandma really is. We all know the ones, they go to "some" meetings, bring grandkids, hoping to save them somehow. They aren't really true JW's anyway, according to their terms.

Funny, with all the money, that little girl doesn't own a dress? Doesn't someone who has been a JW as long as Catherine Jackson know how humiliating it is for a kid, or an adult for that matter, to go dressed different than everyone else? Why do that THAT to her? The stares and looks from other kids must have been embarrassing for Paris. I think that is pretty odd. Not like she went to pick her up from somewhere and that's what she came out wearing.

my son, who is 17, saw my mother while out in service on saturday and was shocked at the way she acted.

he said she smiled and jumped out of the car, gave him a big hug and looked at the others in the car and said how much she loved him.

needless to say, he was not fooled by her complete fake attitude and the show she put on for everyone.

I don't know how my mom really reacted to that. It probably increased her disdain for me as her "apostate" daughter who is putting ideas in his head. She is all about the mentality that if you question anything, or even bring up a point that negates something said (although true) then you are having "apostate thoughts". She is the queen of guilt, feeling it and bestowing it upon others, especially my 17yr old son, and I'm glad to see he's finally SICK of it and has it figured out!

See, all she can do when she sees us is complain or act sad because we are not JW's anymore (I thinks she's jealous of us, lol) and NEVER hugs any of us. He was definitely weirded out!

She proceded to tell him about the new NO bookstudy arrangement........it's been at their home for

20+ years.

I always thought it was a way for my dad to feel more important, having the BS at his house, but anyway, she told him that it was so they could have more family study time (yeah, like my parents study together, HAH!) and because the economy is SO bad right now, it makes it easier to not spend the gas money for another meeting. My son was NOT FOOLED! I am so proud of him!

He came back at her with the examples he heard at the assemblies about brothers in Africa and other poor areas who walked 30 miles through dangerous terrain, through crocodile infested waters and in the heat........they put Jehovah first and went to their meetings no matter what. He told her that is a dumb reason to cancel a meeting, if anything, they should be adding another if things are that hard on everyone in the "last days"..........SMART KID!

I am a proud momma today! :) :)

on the thread about the pdf for the 2003 listening to the great teacher book, i posted about the arguement my hubby and i had over this book when it first came out.

i threw out the 2 copies my kids had and then regretted it because i think this book is very telling about the wt organization and the issue of pedophiles and child molestation.

i wanted to address what happened here too for discussion.. i am not good at copying over texts so perhaps someone else can post here pages 59-60 in this book where sexual content is explained in vivid detail using the terms penis and vulva.

Yes, I am 37 and read this book a LOT as a child. Mostly the "sex" parts of it, I was very curious. During our family bible study when my own children were little and we read this together, I was sickened. It was NOT the way I wanted to describe anything to my kids. I did NOT want them to feel bad about themselves like I did. They did not read the book as I had as a child though, so hopefully they won't be as scarred. As an adult, I still have a hard time with my own sexuality. This book was given to me as a young child as if it was a "kids bible" and a way to guide me through my young life. My fiance wishes I never read the book. You can heal a wound, but the scarring that was left for me had me tormented through my young life. I HATE this book and what it did to one of the most normal parts of my growing up, or what should have been......I know, I need therapy! Good to talk about it though. I still have that original book from when I was a young girl. I should burn it hah? Then again, maybe I should keep the sick book as proof of how screwed up this religion is! Texasgurl

a poster called wolvo has post a youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zs86dfzbg8 which has been brought into the discussion of a 17 year old rape victim who was later disfellowshipped for not screaming during the rape.. due to the fact the disfellowshipped girl admitted to petting, a jw on the forum by the name of tbax had this to say with regards to her being raped.. .

This is a hard subject for me. My mother was raped at an assembly hall building site when I was 22 living at home with my son. Sure, she talked to the guy on a daily basis, probably laughed and seemed flirtatious with him, but he was over 20 years younger than her and she said he was like a "son" to her. My mom has issues, will suck up any attention from males that she can (I've seen it my whole life), my dad is an ass to her. Anyway, one late evening while working, she went to the restroom and he followed her in, he pushed her against the sink and raped her. She said she told him to stop and she cried. She came home very late that night, went and told my father directly and next thing I know, he has a concerned look on his face, she is crying, very shaken, and the elders are on their way over. They met with her so many times, each time asking her if she did something to this young man to have him do this to her. Did she flirt with him? Kiss him? Basically, she was recommended not to go to the police, and made to feel like she was dirty and did something wrong. I saw it.......she was treated like she did something shameful. She confided everything to me, I became her support and therapist....a role I did NOT want but I was all she had. I saw the way the elders looked at her. She was banned from the building site and after a while was allowed to go with my father, however, she didn't want to go back, not after they made her feel so badly. She went into a depression, cried a lot, and a couple times saw this jerk at district conventions and he was almost purposely walk by her which would send her into a panic. I saw her treated like she was trash. It was WRONG what happened to her and she is still in this screwed up religion with my dad and my brothers(who don't know the whole story) It was then that I started asking questions in my own mind. How can the "true religion" with God's backing be so unfair and demeaning to a victim of rape???? This happened in the early 90's. I'm sure not much has changed since then.

i didn't want to hijack the suicide topic because it was a bit more serious than what i am about to say.

not that what i am about to say is comical.

i've been dealing with major depression for the past year and a half or so.

I have to agree with [email protected] your wife did leave you, that would be hard, but sad because of where her devotion lay, not to God but to those controlling her life. :( Your kids on the other hand, will experience things with you they never experienced before. I speak to this with first hand experience. I was able to leave along with my husband, we have since divorced and I am still happier than I ever was and do more with my kids than I ever did! I have also made more friends, more friends I can trust, more who truly care and are not looking for the next "concern" to go to the elders about. I am free, it's a wonderful feeling. I didn't do it till I was 31, and I was raised a JW. That meant losing my family and all the superficial friends I had made most of my life. My mom cried, my dad was more embarrassed than anything(he's an elder) and my brothers are trying to keep my parents approval......but, I was still happier than before.

You will find the strength to do it. It's like a bungee jump, it's so hard to do it, but once you do, you are happy and free!

As for your mental state, please do talk to someone who can at least help you with a nice seratonin boost.....(maybe medication) They may not understand what you have been through, but feeling better, even with some help, can help you find your inner strength that you can't tap into right now.

Ha! I forgot about that, it was always the longest final prayer on Sunday, when you wanted to hurry and get out of there to go eat dinner with friends,....my mom and I would look at eachother and roll our eyes half-through....wish she would read this forum!!!!

LMAO!!! My mom did the same thing! It was all for appearance and so she could bitch about everyone else doing it. The frozen OJ, lol, wow! Why wasn't there someone who thought of ordering more of the more popular items??? We were losers too.. :(

Not at Dodger Stadium, but at the Astrodome in Houston, Tx.
Yes! I loved the conventions! Especially when we made food early in the morning. I liked the sub sandwich or roast beef assembly line. I felt like I was important somehow. The elders always smiled approvingly... :)
I loved getting new dresses to wear, especially the best one for Sunday! Walked around as a teenager hoping the boys would notice me.
Then there were the great speakers. I remember a few who were exceptionally good. Misterfield(sp?) was one. They could talk you into buying anything! (did I say that?) Well, that is what makes a good salesman, right? Some did seem truly heartfelt.
The euphoria....wow....listening to everyone sing so loud after a great final talk! I wanted the whole world to be like that. I wanted to reach out and hug everyone!
Really though, they weren't all like that. When I grew up and had children and missed a lot of meetings, I felt like I was being poked with daggers of guilt for not being in service enough, for not praying enough, and for having a child who misbehaved. I would get very down and feel worthless during the "Are you doing all you can do" talks. Seeing the sister with 5 children and no husband standing on the stage giving her example of how she works a full time job and still regularly auxillary pioneers with all her kids. If she could do it, why couldn't I??
I really don't miss feeling like that at all!
