I think your response is great! Polite, loving, and kind. I can't see how she would ever take offense to anything you say. I don't agree with Gary Buss in this instant. I think sometimes honey gets you a lot further than vinegar. Sometimes, no matter how condescending they are, take the high road and be nice no matter what. They absolutely can NOT pin you down and say you're being rude or "apostate"ish.

Whats the worst dish you ever served???
by Tez ini am a reasonable cook when i can be bothered (as paulj will hopefully confirm) but often resort to quick and easy methods, packet mixes, tins etc.. whereas my parner is a brilliant cook!!
leave him in the kitchen for a little while and he produces something from scratch that is delicious.
so today i decided to extend my culinary skills!

Mozz and I used to housesit for a couple we know. They had this fabulous kitchen that we loved to cook in anytime we were there. So last time we go to the market, get some mahi-mahi filets, baby shrimp, scallops, cream, and vegetables. The intent was to make a seafood cream sauce with the shrimp and scallops and pour over the fish filets and veggies with pasta. Yum, right? Well, they had a tall bottle full of clear yellow liquid next to their stove. We have the same bottle at home, so assuming it was olive oil, like ours, I pour it into the sauce pan to heat and I was going to cook the seafood cream sauce. After warming the olive oil, the kitchen began to smell really lovely. Like flowers. I thought maybe I had missed the Glad Plug In earlier. So I pour the cream into the olive oil and immediately it curdled. I was completely confused. Thinking the cream was bad, I start over. Pour olive oil into saucepan, let it heat. Again I notice the flowery smell. I pour in new container of cream. Again it curdles. Then I notice the tall bottle of "olive oil" was actually very close to the sink. I pick it up and sniff. It was dish soap. Dish soap in a pretty homemade looking bottle, not the bottle it came in. I had been attempting to cook cream sauce with Palmolive dish soap. Needless to say, I lost heart in that cooking experiment and Mozz had to take the reigns. After we found the Real Olive Oil, dinner was a smashing success. Sauteed mahi filets with pasta and vegetables and a seafood cream sauce. Fresh garlic bread and a tossed salad. Yum! But it's still one of my favorite mistakes. LOL!

Being raised a witness has it's benefits...
by Princess ini actually have several reasons why i don't resent my witness upbringing, but it sure came in handy today.. last year i posted about helping 50 kids run in the seattle kids marathon at my daughter's school.
the event was a blast and while it was a ton of work, seeing the joy on the kids' faces when they crossed the finish line made it all worth it.. this morning i spoke to the entire student body at my daughter's school at their monthly spirit assembly.
if i hadn't been raised a witness, giving talks from the time i was five, i never would have attempted such a thing.

Six, I remember seeing you on TV, and yelling at the TV, that you were the guy we met in Florida. That was cool. (documentary on JFK assassination............Six was a photographer used in the show, to photograph recreations of the event)
When Mozz and I found out the show was airing, we had some friends over (conspiracy type believing friends), popped popcorn and watched. Everyone else was watching the show, but Mozz and I were looking for all the Sixy shots. LOL!

"What will I do with all my suits?"
by jgnat inthere's a very exciting development in our little jw family.
i've kept the news close to my chest, as i wouldn't want to jinx it.
it's a great story full of drama, intrigue, a mild sunday school teacher, the internet, and a bunch freaked-out elders.

You guys. You guys have completely and thoroughly and utterly hijacked my thread. Poor Jack (hi, Jack) is going to have to scrub out his eyes with lye.
LOL! Sorry for the shenanigans Jack. We're just having a little fun. We can show you too if you'd like.

Are you a Generalist or a Specialist
by joelbear ini am definitely a generalist, i have a bit of interest in 1000 things.
this is one of the reasons i have always been so unhappy, because i have attempted to force myself to be a specialist.
it just doesn't work.

our worst traits have to be tolerated and perhaps managed.
So, I'm impatient....
I understand. It's one of my traits I'm learning to manage myself.

Wow, jgnat, this is quite a break for you! After hearing ithinkisee, Almost Atheist, and kwin's stories, I wonder if you're next! In all seriousness, help your husband find the joy. The WTS can attempt to take it, but like you and I both know, it hasn't nothing to do with external elements. There is joy for the taking. Just accepting what Life has to offer is the first step. Maybe you can surprise him with a date. Tell him to come home after work, get gussied up, cuz you're taking him out for a sexy dinner and show. Go for a walk in the park (not in the suit though), have a scoop of ice cream at the local dairy store, go for a ride with the windows down. I know you know all this, but I know it's those little things that make me enjoy what God provides TODAY.
Best of luck and blessings!
Love,

I wouldn't be who I am today. I like who I am, and I'm totally OK with it.
Isn't this the truth??? In spite of the heartache, if I had to do it all over again, knowing what I know and having what I have now, I'd do in a second! I like who I am as well. It's taken me a long time to be able to say it and actually believe it.

Would You Pay $190 For A Steak?????????
by minimus inthat's what some places are getting for their kobe' steaks in las vegas!

Good grief no! Mozz and I live on $200 in groceries in a MONTH! $50 a week is our budget. Ridiculous! Even if I had the money, I'd hope to not be that light about money.

My girlfriends cat is a stone-cold killer.
by Low-Key Lysmith ini don't know how to stop her.
we put a bell around her neck so that she makes noise when she moves around but she still manages to kill at least one sparrow or squirrel a day.
i was on the back porch smoking a cigar one afternoon and saw her jump up and catch a low-flying crow right out of the air.

It's a CAT. Cat's are predatory, they are the closest we get to natural killers.
LET IT BE.
get over yourself, and your human tendencies, and recognize your feline friend as the top-floor predator he/she is, and realize that as long as they are free, they will bring home 'gifts' as proof that they are part of the household.
I hate to say it Low Key, but I have to agree here. Cats ARE natural killers. It's what they do. *shrug* As someone else said, when it brings it in, it's not showing off. It's sharing. He's taking care of his "pride" (you and GF) by providing. I know that's probably not what you want to here, but the only solution I see is what rebel8 mentioned. You can get a special door that is magnetized. The only creature that can get in is the one with the matching collar that automatically opens the door. It's like a magnet key.

If I remember correctly, it was created by a lady whose cat would come and go through it's pet door, but often brought over "friends". (Stray neighborhood cats.) She'd come home to her cat basically having a "party" in her home. LOL So she invented the pet door that only allowed her animal in. It's not expensive...might be worth a try.

Joel:
So you are not going to let me know your height and weight at age 20 and 30 also 40 if you are that old.
This thread stops here.
I am not wrong about your inclinations. If you had the curiosity of a generalist you would at least inquire about why I asked about your physical dimensions.
Wow proplog, don't you think this is a little harsh and judgemental? Is it because Joel hasn't responded to you? Could he perhaps have been busy? It was a Friday night...most people have a life on Friday nights. Not everyone is on here everyday. Maybe he just hasn't had the chance to respond.
Not sure if I misunderstood the point to your last response, but I know I always respond well when someone in essence tells me to "buck up".
