Dear Dogs and Cats
by BrendaCloutier inthe other dishes are mine and contain my food.
please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do i find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.. the stairway was not designed by nascar and is not a racetrack.
beating me to the bottom is not the object.

What a great thread. And so true! I remember a long time ago, a boyfriend kicking my pet ferret because it was chasing and nipping at his heels. (Ferrets are VERY friendly and playful for those of you that don't know. The little gal was just trying to play with him and she gets a boot. ) Anyways, I told him under no circumstances is he allowed to come to my house and treat my children that way. I was a stupid stupid girl. I married him - my now ex-husband.
My pets ARE my babies!

Moral Poverty Costs New Orleans
by Frannie Banannie inwouldn't it be great if the media went to this guy for quotes, rather than jesse jackson???

I have to agree with happyout on this one. The blanket statements are alarming and ridiculous. I'm neither black, nor poverty stricken and I find these type of generalizations maddening. I don't think Jesse Jackson is the end all be all, by any stretch of the imagination, but this is the opposite extreme. Both do more damage than good.

(((((Frannie)))))) You're a doll! There is a lot of power among women that is untapped. We have so much to share with each other and this world. I'm not a big Oprah fan, but the one thing I have to say is that she inspires me to embrace my womanhood and the strength that comes with it. I am proud to have so many other strong women surround me in this little town.

Thoughts on forgivness...Is there a process?
by Sparkplug inthough this they actually have learned why it is they need it (forgivness).
am i backwards on this?
i work with people and ex husbands who profess to love god, and all the while when they are angry they ask for god's help to forgive people.

Excellent thread Sparky. Excellent post Scully.
The most difficult thing I've had to learn about forgiving others is that it's not about them...it's about me. Like Scully said, it's making the deliberate choice to not carry that suitcase of grudge that comes with being wronged. Why burden myself with baggage they left behind? How many times have I been forgiven in my life for doing stupid stuff? A million times over!!! So why not do the same to others?
Forgiveness is not a feeling. It's a choice. Sometimes it has to be made over and over and over again in order for the feeling of "letting go" to finally kick in.

I think I could become a wedding junkie!!!!
Me too - it's part of why I love my job now. I'm a wedding photographer!
Traditional 3rd wedding anniversary gifts have a theme of Leather.
Wow Josie - I could have fun with this, couldn't I???
Happy Anniversary, ya old married lady.
Hey - I'll always be younger than you big brother!
I can't believe it's been three years...
I can't either Rachel! Time sure does fly when you're having fun. Or is it "getting older"? How's that saying go?

Happy anniversary. These are the stories that make up this community
I was just thinking this, but couldn't put it into words. We are a community. I would have been there, had I come to this wonderful "town", earlier. Happy Anniversary!!!!! I loved the pictures!!! I have never heard of the ribbons. Is it a Japaneese tradition? I am storing this away in my brain for my daughter. Thank you for sharing. HL
Horrible Life - This is exactly how I feel - it IS a community. And many here are my FAMILY!
The ribbons are actually a bridesmaid luncheon tradition. But since I didn't want to throw the bouquet at the reception, I thought it'd be fun to do it at the wedding. The point is for all the single girls to grab a ribbon and pull. There is a charm at the end of each ribbon that is supposed to be the next big "thing" to happen in there lives. An airplane means travel, a baby booty means pregnancy, a ring means engagement, etc. My girl friend Kim (who's in her 40's) grabbed a ribbon with a baby rattle (which also means a baby is coming) and she laughed, "Can I put this one back. I don't like it." LOL!
One of my favorite things about the ceremony...
Our pastor asked Neil and I to turn around and see all the wonderful guests behind us. And then he asked the guests something like, "As family and friends of Andi and Neil, it is your duty to do everything possible to assist them in making their marriage successful. To pray for, encourage, counsel, guide and love them as they would love each other. Will you please uphold that promise to them? If so, please say, 'I will'." And since none of my family were there (except my sweet Uncle Dad and his daughter) I saw Megadude, Valis, CSG, and COMF sitting on MY side of the row. Everyone in the audience said, "I will" in very loud voices, but I could really only see my favorite apostates in that front row.
It really was a wonderful day! And in spite of our "issues" we might have from time to time, I think we have a pretty good start to a solid marriage. We pray together everyday. We look to other long-time married couples as examples. We ALWAYS try to be KIND and GRACIOUS to each other, even for the simplest of things. And we try to out-do each other when it comes to serving one another - especially when we don't feel like doing it. It seems to bond us and always keeps us healthy emotionally. It has worked for us so far!

What are your greatest qualities?
by JH ini have many qualities .
1. i forgive easily.
2. i'm generous.

I'm genuine. I'd make a terrible actress...I can't hide my emotions from anyone.
I'm generous. If I can help anyone, I try to. It's hard not to help.
I'm silly. Having a sense of humor is really the only way to maintain your sanity in the bitterness of Life.
I'm loving. When I love or am In Love, I do it 150%. It's overwhelming to some people, but I don't know how to contain it.
I'm sensitive. I can almost always understand someone when they're experiencing pain or joy.

Involved in “saving” my brother, which I still hope to do, as well as get involved making the forum(s) better.
I can't speak for WLG, but I know I started out on this board for healing and research benefits. But much of my healing has been accomplished. So now I'm here for friendship and helping others. I think it's the natural process for recovering from the abuses we've experienced and/or witnessed. Much like "sponsors" in a 12-step program. The "old-timers" help the newbies with the things they've learned. And in the meantime, you strengthen friendships with those that you've met along the way. What do you mean by this wander?
