Oooo, now I'm a Satan worshipper - Care to respond to Dad's latest attack?
by Ingenuous ini'm not going to answer this email from my dad.

Respond.
I my self thought at one point it was a waste of time, but the more you talk to witness friends and family about the problems you see they (meaning the overseers, HQ) will collectively observe there is a serious discord in the USA and many other countries in how witnesses good standing/fading ones view the religion we are in. A few days ago I talked to a MS trained friend who was in town about my low meeting attendance being the results of problems I see with our religion he disagreed on many issues and many times brought up better understanding policy but never the less there were some issues he never knew of. When asked the 64thousand dollar questions if I felt witnesses are the true religion, I answered I had not examined all the thousands of religions that exist, but to keep a communication open for future debates I told him that I felt we did.
Use the replies from this knowledgeable bunch to stimulate yours dad’s intellectual facets.

1975
by Grouper in.
i am researching 1975 and i was curious to ask any that served as elder back then in the wtbts ever issue a directive to the congregations to stop or discourage believers from selling their property, cashing out retirements, early marriage, quiting jobs, etc., etc.................. thanks

If a directive came from New York to congregations in the USA, I feel it would assist them in claiming that it's members made their own judgment call in regards to claiming the end was coming in 1975. I was a kid when this occurred and I am getting to different responses from the questions I am asking of family and friends. My nuclear family that attends Spanish services says that they just saw viewed it as the end of 6000 years and their actions, by buying a house and car during that time attest to this.
While many of my friends in the English congregation and circuit had family cash out pensions, the majority pioneered, bought disaster kits including commodes.
From all the research I've done I see that the WTBTS claim that they never said Armageddon=1975 is true but in a very cunning way, it is similar President Bush saying he never said Iraq=WMDS but the implications the administration made tell the opposite.
How many out their during this time period heard at Circuit Ass and District Ass refer to Armageddon=1975 and if you did hear this how frequent was this commented and when did stop.
I think the case studies I know personally along with any you might contribute will assist in invalidating our CO who on his recent visit said the WTBTS never said 1975=Armageddon.
Thanks

Flood help in reasoning book.
by bother_forever inwhen going door to door at a young age, the topic concerning the flood would from time to time arise, when i first encountered this topic with a "knowledgeable" householder i knew i needed fire power and fast.
it was when opening the "reasoning on the scriptures" book that i knew i would find something to not only amaze the householder with a fact that could not be argued with, but i would re affirm my faith and be happy, etc etc.
there was nothing, no flood heading, after pointing this out to a few bro&sis that our main weapon in the field seemed to lack some fire power in this subject i was told that it was not a neccessary subject for the society to have it in such a book.

More food for thought.........
If a global flood did indeed happen, the evaporation that followed at such a great rate would have created a global atmospheric blanket (global warming) that would affect the ocean temperatures drastically since the majority of its inhabitants, especially coral reefs, are every sensitive to sudden temperature changes.
One to three degrees F change on a short-term (years, decades) basis would cause quite a stress level that would result in a major dieing off. It is hard to predict how much ocean temperatures would have increased in such a situation but if today’s global warming models can be used as an indicator, it is reasonable to conclude 10+ degrees F would be easily attained.
The global flood story is one of the few miracles in the Bible that can actually be investigated to test its validity; unfortunately the evidence against it is quite overwhelming. It is interesting to note that religions including the WTBTS will use archeological evidence when it favors their argument of an event being factual as the case with Sodom and Gomorrah (sulfur content found throughout the region) but when the evidence is not present little is said and if you don’t believe the best they can do is call you a critic.
By the way scientist believe a devastating fire could have occurred at SG causing to go airborne that some could have viewed as sulfur falling from the sky.

I began to question the global flood a long time ago but it was my coral reef hobby that showed me that if I believed the flood was global it would contradict many of the facts I knew in regards to reefs and fish.
For example, we know the great barrier coral reef and also all other major coral reefs through out the earth to be millions of years old. Their age is determined by the rate the coral deposit calcium to create a polyp. Therefore we know all these coral structures have been generally intact for that amount of time but if a global flood occurred it would have brought nutrients to the oceans from dead plant and animal matter, soil cover from land run offs that would have in a very short timed killed all corals (bleaching) and its inhabitants.
This is seen today when farm soil run off occurs nearby reefs. When it reaches the coral reefs it begins to bleach (kill) the corals by blocking the sunlight that reaches them, by depositing soil directly on the corals, and more importantly by depositing nutrients that create an algae bloom that overwhelm the corals.
As can be concluded if a global flood occurred the age of our coral reefs, if any existed, would only be 4000+ years old if that. At a minimum we would have seen a worldwide major scaring of the corals reefs but that is also not the case.
Just my two cents.

I'm quite sure it is true, I just heard an interview on KFI 640 AM (biggest talk station in USA) in So Cal with the host JOHN ZIEGLER talking to a field reporter in Santa Maria stating that Michael celebrated the memorial in Solvang. He also stated how Jesus Juice had a conatation to the wine offered at the memorial.
