With a heavy heart I regret to inform you that..
by Wordly Andre ini regret to inform, all of you that i will no longer be a member of this board, ive thought about it a long time and to hard decision that after many hours of praying i will be returning to the society.
i know its the only way i can confront the problem that i am currently faced with, i am sure all of you at one time thought about it too, i am however weak, i know that going back will only delay matters and keep this horrible secret of mine, but its the only way i know how i can deal with it.
thank you for all your support and for me to fully get back to jehovahs organization i can not be a member of this board thank you worldly andre

I just re-watched "Malcolm X" last nite...
by CaptainSchmideo in...and as before, i thought denzel washington's performance was top-notch.. one thing that has struck me, watching the movie, and reading "the autobiography of", is the moment in his life when he becomes disillusioned with the nation of islam.
it is so familiar a feeling to me, and to a lot of people on this board:.
malcolm was a "true believer" in his religion in every sense of the word.

I read the book when I was 14 and saw the movie when it came out, but it's been years since I've watched it. Thanks for writing your take on it now. I would like to see it again.

Coming to terms with your death - immortality options
by Crumpet ini must say its terribly hard to dredge up any enthusiasm for today or even this week at work, but i dont feel depressed.
the weather has been so undecided these last few weeks, a little sun, but mostly pregnant clouds breaking water over our heads several times a day.
its also quite warm and clammy as if we are in a limbo land between seasons and there is little in terms of beauty to redeem it.

Its almost as if I’ve come to the understanding that we spend our whole lives trying to come to terms with our death.
For the most part, we do. Then we miss out on living life! The ignorance we hold as children disappears, but is then replaced with a treasure hunt for that 'something'. Every 'clue' picked up doesn't have to lead to a grand chest afterwards. The 'clues' so to speak, then are trampled upon as if they don't matter, like we didn't even see them. Yet, each of the 'clues' are the treasure.

Atheists, Agnostics: Do you still pray?
by Eh infor people who left, not only the organization, but also the canaanite/judaic/christian/islamic/bahai god, do you still pray?
before we left the group we (my wife and i) were questioning the bible and the existence of god.
being witnesses, we were uneducated and never heard of things like pascal's wager, but we (my wife especially) had come to a similar idea - even if the whole thing were ballocks, there was little harm in continuing.

Not at all. When I stopped believing in Santa Claus, I stopped writing letters to him, too. Some thiests close to me (who mask themselves as agnostic) do pray when things are tough in their lives.
