why are we here?
what is the purpose of life?

the elders and the organization always put us on alert to make sure we never "stumbled" anyone.
of course, someone was always be counseled for this offense.

...because my wife wore (in their opinion) too much makeup and jewelry
One time, the sunday talk was comprised of those things. How especially wearing eye makeup will stumble 'ones in the cong'. I hated going plane jane when my eyes are my favorite feature.

I hope they are able to prove wt's role in this girl's death.

I agree. Sued for having anything to do with this, yet they can be sued for not complying with patients' wishes.
we had a house near the kingdom hall where we always started out time when i was a pioneer.

we always left a back copy.
i gave the talk from the youth book at the ministry school on the chapter about masturbation and homosexuality. they wanted an expert.

In addition to your own comments, thank you for posting WT articles/quotes at the drop of a dime when replying to a topic!
You're killin 'em, girl!
hey all this may have been mentioned before.
i was thinking last night about when the twin towers fell and i remembered thinking how close armageddon must be did anybody else think similar....i guess it would only apply to those who were still in the borg at the time es
Oh yeah. I thought, "it's happening." And at the tms that night, that's what was discussed...that it was a sign of things to come thanks to satan. It left my ears open to be brainwashed even more. I was more scared of the big A then before.
We were scared, though since there were people who hadn't come to the meeting, and worked in and near the world trade center.
Anyone remember the watchtower that came out months later w/the towers on the cover?

Hearing on wrongful death held
By CP
CALGARY -- A hearing began yesterday to determine whether the Jehovah's Witness religious order should be brought to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a man who blames the church for his daughter's death.
Lawrence Hughes filed a $1-million lawsuit last August against the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada, Edmonton's Cross Cancer Institute and several doctors and Jehovah's Witnesses.
In his claim, Hughes says the Jehovah's Witness church's policy against blood transfusions prompted the death of his daughter, Bethany Hughes, from acute myeloid leukemia on Sept. 5, 2002.
The Watch Tower Society subsequently filed a motion to strike down the claim made by Hughes.
Ontario lawyer David Gnam, representing the Watch Tower Society, said outside court Hughes's dispute with the church is not a matter for the courts.
"How is it possible to prove that anything caused Bethany to die other than her disease?" said Gnam. "Everything that's been alleged doesn't amount to something for which you can be sued."
A former Jehovah's Witness, Hughes originally blamed both the church and his wife, Arliss Hughes, for allowing their daughter Bethany, a devout Jehovah's Witness, to refuse blood transfusions to help treat her leukemia.
But he removed his estranged wife as a defendant in the lawsuit yesterday, saying she is also a victim.
Bethany died less than six months after she underwent a series of blood transfusions against her wishes after Alberta Child Services assumed custody of her when she refused conventional treatment for the disease.
it still amazes me how lacking jw's are in social decorum.
i had 4 children while in the b0rg and not once did anyone say congrats.
to me or my husband.
No! I'll tell you what I did hear, though: "We're going to wait until Jehova brings in the new system of things "
Gee, thanks for trying to make me feel like shit at what is supposed to be one of his sacred blessings! And while I was home on maternity leave, nursing every 2 hours, I was reminded how important it was not to miss a freakin wt bible study in case the big A came through and destroyed my unbaptized azz!
when i was a witness, i shared a house with an elder/pioneer named herb.
herb was in his eighties, and he had paid off his two-bedroom house long ago, so he would offer the extra bedroom to local brothers.
it was a good deal, and herb got some company at the house, so everyone benefited.. for being in his eighties, herb was exceptionally fit.
It's so messed up for them to act like your relationship with him prior to leaving the jw's is erased as if it never existed. ((SNG)) They have no class or decency....and the right thing to them is completely backwards. There's just no excuse for it.
i was working yesterday so i wasnt at the meeting but the speaker in his talk made comments about 1914 on several occasions and towards the end of his talk he mentioned that if any new ones in attendence didnt understand the signficance of 1914 or how we know that christ started ruling in 1914 that they were invited to ask any jw in attendence to explain these things to them and they would be happy to.
this really got my wife to thinking because as a 28 year old jw who was raised as a witness and who has always been very active in the ministry she couldnt explain 1914 or any beliefs that we have as witnesses in regards to 1914 other than things havent been the same in the world since this pivotal date.
something as simple as this comment from this speaker can be the first step into seeing the errors in the wt belief system.
This is one of those big doubts I had about jw in general. Once I started thinking, I realized that they cannot prove 1914 to be true at all! It was explained to me many times, and of course 607 was used in that. But, there's no date in the bible. This was made up by them for them. And since this date is made up, why else would anything they have to say be held as "truth"?!
