Blood Fractions and Your Conscience
by FairMind infor arguments sake lets assume that the wts teachings that the bibles prohibition against blood is valid with regard to accepting a transfusion.
jws are now being told that while they cannot accept whole blood or whole blood components such as red blood cells, white blood cells and blood plasma, they can if their conscience permits accept blood fractions.
i have thought quite a bit about how and why the accepting of some blood fractions and not others is supposedly a conscience matter.

When discussing the blood fractions issue with my parents it became obvious that the blood fractions issue had not been understood at all by my mother who insisted it was not true and only slightly by my father. What was also obvious was that, like many long term JWs they had lost the thinking capacity to be able to see the hypocrisy in what is happening.
Very sad!

LittleToe,
Glad to hear you survived without TOO much damage. Just enough to be going on with.
Wrap up and stay safe.

by Aude_Sapere intwo big events for me today.
ok maybe they are not so big but they are solid.
after idly waiting for long, chronic depression to clear, i took two more steps toward growing up and away from the wtbs.

Court Reporter & Dumb Lawyers
by Angharad innot sure if this has been posted before, but it made me laugh .
these are from a book called disorder in the american courts and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters that had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.. .
q: what is your date of birth?.

Public talk over time
by ballistic inan old age bethelite elder gives a special public talk at a kingdom hall and rambles on for some time.
after two hours, he mumbles, "sorry if i have gone over-time but i left my watch at home.
" an over-zealous ministerial servant in the front row stands up and says, "it's ok, there's a calendar behind you!

LOL!
Been there and seen that! Reminds me of some old GB dude who gave the talk at an assembly in Twickenham, and went about three quarters of an hour overtime. By the time they'd finished the toilets were CLOSED. My dad drove at 110 mph down the motorway to the first services. Don't know what happened to the people on coaches though.

Did you exhibit some wierd behaviour ...
by Brummie in...when exiting the watchtower?
i thought i was going absolutely mad.
told lies and invented other stories and scenerios to hide the fact that i was coping with coming out of a cult.

Wow! I'm so glad I just read this thread. I can just about recognise most of that behaviour in what I was like when I first started fading. My stomach was so bad that i had constant diahorrea because of my nerves. My counsellor and psychiatrist told me that what was wrong was that, in their words, 'You're just crapping on all that crap and you've got to let all those beliefs go. They're not true. Theyr're nonsense. But it will take time.'
Now, I feel much better. But I didn't realise that the nervouse breakdown, agoraphobia, general illness was common in other people who discovered their lives had been wrapped in a lie.
Since I found JWD I finally feel 'normal' at last. What ever that means. But I feel like me.
Thanks JWD!

Old soul! Great read. Brings back memories but makes me realise why I should DEFINITELY stay away from the KH because I'd be laughing too much.
Thanks

Do you have to respond?
by JustTickledPink ini continually battle with my emotional feelings as the daughter of a devout jw and my beliefs as a reasonable educated individual.. problems arise when my mother makes some sort of contact with me via email and always has to put in some dig such as "since you have turned your back on jehovah's people" and then i get furious because if god does have people on earth i am sure the red cross volunteers would be on the list, not the jws i know.
the statements she makes always irritate me and i sometimes choose to defend my beliefs, my morality, my truth vs her truth.
i spend time writing not only factful but sometimes emotional charged testimony about what it means to be godly.. once i make my point it opens up a can of worms and i get bombarded with emails or magazines from her trying to make her point.

She's trying to SAVE you JustTickledPink! Mums can be like that, a real pain in the ass and a double pain in the ass when they're JWs. She may be counting her time and you might be a return visit. I'm pretty sure that's what my mum does.
