  That's a very moving story Gerard.

  Glad you posted it.

  Just proves what a destructive cult the WTBTS really is when it tears apart a family. Why couldn't that little hand have stayed with it's father. Unconditional love is a wonderful, wonderful thing. It's something I have begun to learn only since leaving the cult.

  As my children and husband left the cult, I followed. At first I thought we were choosing death but then I realised we had chosen to actually live the only life we had.

  2 elders plan on giving her a shepherding call and will outline exactly what and what not she can do with her granddaughter----now that she is marked.

  Candidlynuts has a good point Minimus. Get them to back off because she really doesn't need the stress at her age. She may enjoy telling them off and get a kick out of doing it too but her body probably isn't up to it. Is there someone you can contact to make the ass....s leave her alone?

  jehovah's witnesses are told to never talk against the organization.

  they say that talking against the organization is the same as talking against jehovah god himself!........so, now that we have the freedom to speak our minds, say something true.

  The Organisation is made up of Misfits and Malcontents who need a securtiy blanket to get them through life.

  There is no Love in the bOrg, only a love of money, report cards and fiddled statistics.

  If you really HAVE to stay a JW for whatever reason, always hang out with the riff raff. They're the only REAL people there and the only place you will be lucky enough to find compassion. The higher up the crooked hill you go the more sour and crooked you find them.

  WHAT IMPACT WOULD A UFO LANDING HAVE ON RELIGION?

  i was watching independence day last week, and i got to thinking "what would happen if a ufo (or several for that matter), did land on earth?

  what effect would this event have on religions that teach that god has only created life on planet earth?

  specifically, how do you think the governing body would attempt to explain this to 6,000,000 people that they've told in no uncertain terms, that there is no other intelligent life out there.

  Only the thought of not being able to talk to my parents, but I think they might not take too much notice of the not talking bit. But I wouldn't like them to be ashamed of their daughter.

  But as for the rest of them. They can get stuffed. The rest of my relatives and my husbands (though not my sister) have already disfellowshiped me and mine. We haven't been invited to any family 'dos' for a long long time. It's still very sad to think that you are missing out on nieces and nephews and fun with them. One day, when the new system still hasn't come, I wonder if they'll think of us and realise how they missed out on our lives like we will have missed out on being part of theirs.

  Sooner or later the WTBTS WILL fall. It's certain, as far as I'm concerned. All this time we will have wasted!

  So, yes, when I think about it, I miss the 'silly so and so's'.

  The Aftermath - Relationships After JW Life

  i have a significant other now...she was raised babtist and is very strong in her beleifs.

  one of the difficult parts is that very subject, since i have no need to be "saved", and can very handily offer an abundance of reasoning as to why i could never trust a "preacher" to help me learn how to live.

  ironically though, it is because of her i have started looking futher into what i beleive, basically looking into everything to determine what is true and what is fiction.

  It's sad but it seems that all forms of 'fundamentalists' need to force their beliefs on others people, whether they are christian, Islamic or whatever and ONLY they are right. They cannot seem to respect other peoples freedom to believe what they want to believe.

  You, have to find what you believe and this does take time, sometimes even many years. This means you have to have the self respect not to let anyone try to convince you of what they believe and you do your own thinking and research. It takes time. Don't rush it. Like a good wine, it will be worth the wait.

  Dropping attendance and disolving congregations

  well, i came across a couple of interesting pieces of news yesterday, that i thought you would all find encouraging.

  while i was standing in line at macdonald?s yesterday morning, i ran into a couple of jws from the other side of town.

  they were up in my area because (not surprisingly) they were laying tiles at a local bar and the work had to be done on sunday morning.

  High rates of depression in Org.

  i noticed after being a jw for a while that many members of my congregation were having to take antedepressants.

  (i counted at least 30 out of 100).

  after a few years i too began to have bouts of depression and problems with anxiety.

  Hi there,

  Yes I can remember many having problems with depression but also autoimmune disorders, stress related illnesses,and ME and other illnesses related to mental problems, such as anorexia.

  I think some of it may be due to the real lack of hope. As in you may or you may not survive Armageddon. It depends on....meetings, hours in field service etc...

  Repression of normal desires, sex, to have children, a career with a fair paying job.

  Endless boring hours of meetings.

  Endless boring hours of field service.

  Endless boring hours of study.

  Being criticised and 'counselled' if not up to 'the mark'.

  A very miserable life indeed always having to put the rules of the WTBTS ahead of your own human needs.
