Funny it's focus is the "preaching work." It seems to me such efforts in the past have been focused on just getting people back to the meetings. Doesn't it follow that if they are attending meetings regularly they more than likely will succumb to the pressure to preach??
I agree, sounds like it may be more of a numbers game here. Not just getting peoples' sorry butts to the Hall, but get them out going door to door and "placing" those books & mags.

you dont need to be dissfelowshiped to be shunned ( why & how ).
what caused you to be shunned from within your congregation,even though you were not disfellowshipped ,.
where in the scriptures does it mention this particular type of remedy,does the creator sanction this type of treatment,were you suicidal when this happened ,did you receive support from anyone ,how did you handle it.. can you offer advice to people going through this at the moment.. agarpe love
I'm shunned mainly because I was dunked at 13 and no longer associate with JW's. That apparently makes ALL the difference the world. My brother was not dunked and no longer associates with JWs, so he's apparently okay. There's still hope for him.
Like others on this board, I'm shunned by my family in the hopes that I'll miss the "sweet fellowship" the JWs offer and come back to the fold. Right... The longer I'm aware the more warped they appear.

Oh good grief. So just say it. Lying is okay. On a related noteI remember my mom gobbling up those lovely Yearbooks which told of the JWs epxeriences during Nazi Germany and the JW persecution in Malawi, etc. Like THEY were the only ones who were persecuted/imprisoned/tortured. Its like my mom and other JWs liked to keep that persecution vision alive: how the JWs could function sub-rosa and fool the evil persecutors. Im sure lying under these circumstances would be encouraged.
i am desperately searching fo rthe bible qoute which tells you that you shall recognize his people by the love amongst themselves.. i have not found any love amongst any witnesses in our hall, never ever...and we have attended this hall for nearly 2 years.
i am still a study, my hubby grew up in the truth.

You know, this is about the fifth time in the last two days that I've seen references to the JW religion as The Truth. I know, I know, I used it to when I was "in." It became so ingrained. But don't people know that it's a clear cut sign of a cult to claim it is "The Truth?" Therefore, why keep using the doublespeak???? Why the reluctance to call it the JW religion???
i am sure this topic has been brought up many times here but i don't always have the oppertunity to read all the posts so i am going to raise it again.. i went to the meeting the other day with my wife and this came up in the talk.
the speaker saying how improtant it was to have the right bible to get the most out of bible reading.
the right bible being the nwt of course because it uses the divine name which we all know is jehovah...or yahweh.
Actually as a child, I always wondered about this. JW's tout that THEY (alone?) use the correct form of God's name, yet they then acknowledge that no one really knows the corrrect pronunciation. Okay.....
I think it's a whole bunch of BS. If a God cared so much that he be address by his TRUE name, he'd find a way to make it known. To me just another example of JW's pointing add knat's eye stuff while missing the big picture.

i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.
Well, if they are an impefect organization, so are all other organizations in the world, religious or otherwise. Why should we listen to THEM as having the "truth" then? Imperfect means FLAWED. Why would a perfect God work through a flawed organization??? See what they say.

is there any common thread that connects jw's together because as far i can see jw's come from all types of families, backgrounds , races and such.. in my congregation there were many types of people,although there were quite a few dpressives and others with mild mental diseases.but there is nothing i find in common through jehovahs witnesses except their belief in that religion.there must be some common personnality types in the organistation, maybe a few dominant reoccouring ones, but i would need a bigger picture to see that i suppose.. what are your thoughts?
I think they advertise their common thread themselves. They are looking for those who are "sighing and crying" (from memory, may not be exact!!) over this system of things. In other words, unhappy people who lack the ability or desire to either accept or try to improve their lives and/or the world in general. So the typical profile would be a quite unflattering IMO mix of passive people who feel they have no control over their lives, so must look to an outside force (Jehovah, but since he's really not visible, the WTS) to solve all their problems. They believe there is a single truth, a panacea that will make the world whole, perfect.
Related to this is their inability to accept that we live in an "imperfect" world. They don't deal well with ambiguity. Life is black/white. IMO, they also have a very unusually inflated view of their particular role in life: they are a unique people living during momentous times, where THEY will usher in a new world; they have a special purpose (lol, unlike that in "The Jerk", Again, they don't seem to be able to accept that they may just be one generation in a long, long line of many humans who are born, live, and die.

Translation: too many JW's have realized hoofing it from door to door trying to get converts to a cultic, no frills religion is, frankly, a drag.
I'll be waitin' for their kind, loving, understanding words. I'm interested to see just how they can lovingly couch a message that basically goes like this: Become a JW and pedal your religion door to door, or die an ignoble, horrific death at the hands of a "loving" God.
Sign me up!!!

Just disbanding as an organization and admitting they are a cult that has no more market on the "truth" than another other religious cult would be good enough for me. I hope to see it in my lifetime.
And, most importantly, that I be blessed enough to raise MY children in a much psychologically healthy enviornment than I was raised in. This cult crap will STOP with my line.
