  Some congregations make it very difficult to get the appropriate password officially. One long-time elder was told that his elderly parents had to go to the KH during the meeting to get the password, which was updated every month. He was told that even he could not give the password to his parents.

  It may have changed since then but if the BOE controls access to the password, it will vary from congregation to congregation.

  I got the password from my jw mother in another congregation at a time when I had not attended a meeting for 3 years. Just out of curiosity I listened to 3 minutes of a public talk and 3 minutes of a discussion of one paragraph. I went out and vomited after that.

  Will the U.S. Supreme Court be RIDICULED by JW lawyers?

  in view of the statements below by the wtbts hierarchy, how on earth can u.s. supreme court judges possibly be conned into accepting jw lawyers' claim/defence of clergy-penitent privilege in the $35m lawsuit?.

  if you don't have a clergy, how can you have clergy-penitent privilege?

  has no one in the u.s.a. pointed out to the judiciary that they're being duped?.

  The situation in Australia when a special commission investigated the Watchtower was comforting to me. I saw a group of non-jws in the legal field show that they are up-to-date on current WT policies for public consumption and what really was the party line for members.

  Many ex-jws spent much effort and time to facilitate making those non-jws savvy to the lies of the WTS.

  I have no problem being confident that the legal people looking into this in the SCOTUS, will do the same, have the same people supplying them info from a different perspective, and that these legal people will look at other cases/situations in other countries and states of the US.

  No 2019 Conventions in Ireland ?

  i may have got this wrong, but using the dreaded jw website, they seem to be directing the irish j.w's to go to birmingham in england this weekend.. is this correct ?

  they always used to hold two conventions in ireland, are there none in 2019 ??.

  probably the irish ones actually, truly, made a loss, but think of all the travelling, including a flight or sea ferry crossing if i am correct.

  I remember one year our congregation was assigned to a convention in Winnipeg Canada, 728 miles one way.

  Many jws in this area could not afford that but somehow scrimped and saved to go. But they did not have to fly over water from one country to another.

  Perhaps the Irish jws were not obedient enough to the WTS in other areas and are being punished :)

  jesus realized that composite slave had to qualify for such an appointment when he came into power of his kingdom promised by jehovah god.

  sparky1, I read those books about a year before I left. I found the Harp of God at an antique store, and the other was in my uncle's library which he let me read.

  The Harp was used much like other WT books today for studying with interested non-jws. The Way to Paradise was written by Van Amburgh, a member of the WTS board of directors (no GB then but the board functioned as a GB de facto).

  The Way to Paradise is a book that puts forth 1925 as the end of the system as well as many funny speculations.

  I agree both are worth a read to get a simplified summary of WTS doctrines then.

  I grew up with a non-jw father who had many non-jw friends that we socialized with. I had no problem making friends with non-jws because I already had as a jw. My father had not socialized with his family for years because of grudges from the past, so that's why we never saw them.

  As to people at the KH, I knew that I had very few were true friends. That made me think, why were non-jws so caring and helpful especially when we had troubles and jws stayed away from us even more thinking the would catch the plague of worldliness we had caught from our non-jw father. Now that doesn't mean we didn't have non-jw family (my in-laws) who shunned my husband and I before when we were jws and after when we left. We attended funerals and weddings and anniversaries, etc., before we when we were jws, so we had not given offense that way.

  I always wondered how jws could go door to door and talk to strangers about the kingdom, people that they believed were already toast at Armageddon. It wasn't the eternal lives of those strangers that motivated them to preach and sometimes teach, it was securing their own eternal life.

  When secular sources confirm what the WTS, they point to that as proof of their scriptural proof of the WTS position. When secular sources don't confirm, then these same sources are lying or have only incomplete info, so the WTS position stands.

  WT / JW Doctrine ,Satan cast out of Heaven in 1914 ? He has always had access to the earth ? Since Eve .

  this doctrine / belief that jehovah`s witnesses have , surely raises a few questions that they do not address.. 1.this spirit being challenged god by questioning his authority and offering eve an alternative making himself satan.. and this took place on earth ,the garden of eden.

  so he who became satan had access to the earth.. 2. all throughout the old testament , the hebrew scriptures do we find examples of satan interfering with gods plan of things either by himself or his followers .. 3.their are just too many examples to list individually ,however a few key ones would be , the nephilim , job when god in heaven asks him where he has been , and his reply , from roving about on the earth .

  , etc.etc.. 4.and of course in the new testament , where jesus is taken up into a mountain to be tempted by satan for fourty days ?.
