At first I thought you were going to start a podcast.
I don't watch them so far.
If some knows of something that is entertaining but not crude, I'd be interested.
i'm a postman so i get 4 to 5 hours every day with my headphones on and i'm really chewing through some stuff.
i'm after science (evolutionary biology and anthropology especially), history of religion and comedy.
old sci-fi audio books are also a favourite.

a police campaign to get the public to prepare a "grab-and-go" bag in case of emergencies has been both criticised and mocked by social media users.. a police scotland tweet urged people to pack essentials such as a first aid kit, radio, torch, and food and water.. its recommendations were part of an annual preparedness month, which is being promoted by local authorities and emergency services across the uk.. however, the police force has been accused of scaremongering.. the tweet read: "september is preparedness month.
emergencies can happen at any time and it's recommended to have a #grabbag ready containing essential items including medication, copies of important documents, food/water, torch, radio and other personal items.".

I remember talking to a coworker who had lived in California in the "fire" zone. A fire came up quickly and he was not prepared. He had no time to gather up his important papers all over the house, think about what else he should grab (almost forgot the dog). After that he started putting important things together in one place in a carry bag. He added things when he realized that he would need it. The most important thing his family rehearsed, was where they would gather in one spot (with a backup) and count heads so everyone would get into the car. They also did the same if they were split up for any reason have a central gathering place.
People at work and school have fire drills to get people to know and remember automatically where the fire doors are (also an alternative if that is blocked by fire), where to go outside the building far enough away, have a particular place their bureau should gather and have a head count. The fire department would time the employees and then have reminders for things that should be adjusted.
Why not at home?
do you support free choice to wear a political hat or article of clothing?
if someone wants to put a bumper sticker on their car in support of a political candidate or party, should they be able to do it without fear of being maligned or abused?
?.
LV101, just stating my personal impressions. I don't like to wear any products that advertise the company's logo or name, sports, or events for charity themes. I have no need to advertise my own personal opinions that way and offend someone.
If others want to do wear such things, that is their decision. But I thought I was being asked my feelings about it, not saying I should impose them on others.
this is a true story.
it's about a sister named henriette venema.
she was a very loyal jw.
A sister's non-jw husband was visiting the Sunday meeting. He dropped over having a heart attack. I started CPR and another jw called 911. The ambulance was there in just a couple of minutes and took over from me (required CPR training at work). After the sister and the husband left with the ambulance, a brother came over and said I should have taken this man back to the second school...I looked at him and said, I'll remember that when you have a heart attack at the KH.
Later, I grabbed the PO (now COBOE) and told him that if I had done that I would l have been disobeying my CPR training and putting this man at risk of dying. I "suggested" that in the next elder's meeting he should go over how situations like this should be handled, identify people in the congregation with CPR training, and fill in the elders and other so-called responsible brothers that this counsel to me was totally uncalled for. The PO did that after seeing that I was the only one who immediately knew what to do (and saved this man's life).
It reminded me of the bible story about Jesus healing a man on the sabbath, and the religious leaders telling him he had sinned by healing on the sabbath. Jesus was said to say, that they would get a sheep out of ditch on the sabbath, how much more was a man worth than a sheep. jws are so focused on rules that they miss the point of helping people live.
i really enjoyed it and thought i'd share for what it's worth.... https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/spiritual-life/how-you-can-heal-from-growing-up-in-a-legalistic-church.html.
Legalism in religion = Pharisees (lawyers) in the first century supposedly condemned by Jesus their Leader. Evidently these religions are not imitating the Christ they claim to imitate.

Actually, as hats go the MAGA hats are not very attractive to me.
Why identify yourself with such a hat, why not the US flag on a nice looking hat, it would seem more appropriate and not so divisive.
one of jws oldest beliefs, going back to the bible students, was quietly turned to old light in the latest wt.
in questions from readers, it explains that when satan told eve 'you certainly will not die', he wasn't starting the doctrine of the immortal soul, but that rather came later, after the flood..
"A talking snake, a magic piece of fruit from tree that could give you eternal life, a flaming sword spinning to guard the entrance to the magic tree!
Sounds like mythology to me!"
Actually how my husband reacts every time someone brings up a snake talking to Eve. As a perfect human it never occurred to her that none of the other snakes talked.
looking at the most recent wt the study article focuses on the jubilees.
the made a separate box in the article to highlight the math behind jubilees, and i'm wondering if they're trying to get people thinking and stir up the pot without actually making a false prophecy.
for instance: jubilees happened every 7 times 7 years.
@smiddy3
Correct, the WTS has many versions for the 50th Jubilee but always only in regards to the WTS organization and its existence and future. The WTS has quietly dropped the 7,000 year creative day by the wayside since 1987, revising any mentions of it after that to thousands of years. There was a trip up at one book study where some jws were using an older version of the study book, but the conductor only baptized 3 years before this study had a newer book and had never heard of the 7,000 creative day. So he called on a brother who said it was 7,000 years long but the conductor's book said thousands of years and corrected the older brother. My husband had to explain the previous interpretation before the conductor's baptism. The next midweek meeting, it was announced that members should get the newer copy of the book so everyone would be on the same page.
1987, last mention of 7,000 year creative day

Second, a study of the fulfillment of Bible prophecy and of our location in the stream of time strongly indicate that each of the creative days (Genesis, chapter 1) is 7,000 years long. It is understood that Christ’s reign of a thousand years will bring to a close God’s 7,000-year ‘rest day,’ the last ‘day’ of the creative week. (Revelation 20:6; Genesis 2:2, 3) Based on this reasoning, the entire creative week would be 49,000 years long.

How long, then, were the creative days? The Bible does not say; however, the wording of Genesis chapters 1 and 2 indicates that considerable lengths of time were involved.

The fact is, the Bible reveals that the creative “days,” or ages, encompass thousands of years.

Jubilee used in the past:
Creation day 7,000 years long
7th creation day 7,000 years long
6,000 years of human history 1975
1,000 years left to run in 7th creative day from 1975
so the end comes in 1975 so that the 1,000 years after contain the years for Jesus Messianic rule from heaven
6 years then 1 year sabbath: 6-1,000 year days, then 1-1000 year Messianic kingdom
etc jws can't even figure out the 1914 chronology

1959
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1959321?q=immortal+soul+satan&p=par
It was the “wicked one,” Satan, who told mankind’s ancestors: “You positively will not die.”
...
This was the first lie, from the father of lies, including his later lie about the inherent immortality of the soul. (Gen. 3:4; John 8:44)
1990
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1990327?q=immortal+soul+satan&p=par
Who was it that led humans to believe that lie? Jesus identified him when he said to the religious leaders of his day: “You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. . . . When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie.” (John 8:44) Yes, it is Satan who developed the immortal-soul idea to turn people away from true worship. So one’s course of life and hope for the future are put on the wrong path by believing doctrines that grew out of the first lie recorded in the Bible, though at that time Eve no doubt understood the serpent to mean merely that she would not die at all in the flesh.

Another satanic lie is that humans have an immortal soul. If that were true, everyone would live forever.
