  I have purchased DVDs, CDS from TimeLife online.

  Robin Williams work over the years, what others have to say about them, very good, worth the money

  And some oldies CDs, listen to them all the time

  That's about it

  I think about it and then I realize that if the only endorsers are celebrities and unknown people in a contrived audience, stay away.

  Jehovah's Witnesses Came to My Neighborhood

  for nearly two years i have not seen any jehovah's witnesses going door to door in my neighborhood.

  that was not the case when my wife and i first moved here (north central oregon).

  in fact, our neighborhood was visited at least once every 4 to 5 months - even in the coldest winter months.

  There are some old ways that people "counted time"

  1. Talk to your 5-year old grandchild every day for 2 hours, walking down the beach, on the golf course, etc.

  2. Writing letters, write 1 letter, copy it 100 times and put in the door of 100 NHs. Count 100 hours.

  Approximately 40 authors wrote the Bible considered as GOd`s inspired word .Jesus never wrote one sentence in the bible.

  the bible from genesis to revelation and some apocrypha books are considered "god`s inspired word" written by imperfect men over the centuries.. yet jesus christ who never wrote a single sentence yet claimed to be the son of god and changed the history of the world not by what he said and did ,but by what others claimed he said and did.. moses wrote five books jesus wrote none .. how can jesus be considered greater than moses ?.

  did the political powers that be in those days see an advantage of making jesus and christianity an opportunity for power and authority over the population of the time ?.

  redvip2000, I know I left something out from my post sometimes my fingers don't type everything that I am thinking, that Moses did not compile the first 5 books either. That is only a dance around jws/WTS use to explain the discrepancies in authorship.

  well she went off to the big convention this morning.

  as she left i ventured a bare tiny 'dont give them money' 'they have millions.

  ' she spun back, (we are on pensions.).

  zeb, I found it to be true from a jw that participated in this WT program and saw WT representatives present this "requirement" and he saw it collected as well. Having jw relatives in the area, he was privy to the process from someone who experienced that.

  do you ever find yourself starting to hum a jw tune subconsciously?

  several times while driving alone i started singing one of them, and then i get to an offensive lyric which jolts me 'awake', and i say something to myself like 'no!

  if anybody heard they'd think i was a few bricks shy of a load 😆.

  I can remember some ex-jws writing new lyrics appropriate to their own changed thinking. I rather fill my mind with other music, better written music/lyrics, figuratively needing more room for the new, so I toss the old from my memory or put them in a rented storage area, far away in another galaxy.

  Merger aftermath

  a couple of months ago, i reported on my congregation being disolved and merged with another.. on sept 1, cong b merged with cong a using the same hall, thereafter using cong a's meeting times.

  also nearby cong c moved into the hall using cong b's meeting times and cong c's kh is being put up for sale.. i've since been to both sunday meetings and both midweek meetings.

  at all, the parking lot is totally full, cars have to park around the corner and on the street.

  Publicly, jws have to find a way to seem to support WTS changes or be viewed suspiciously by the rest of the members. What they think behind the scenes is hard to know. How many of us were thinking differently privately before we finally left.

  Moses was merely an editor of previous written info (supposedly), most likely stories passed down, not original thoughts and certainly not inspired by god.

  Much of what is in the bible is considered credible by circular reasoning.

  So can we consider the bible a book that was ghost-written by humans for god?

  a person whose job it is to write material for someone else who is the named author.

  Russell said he was going out there and gathering the one or two "truths" that some religions had "saved" to be gathered into one place again when Jesus came back to take possession of the kingdom. He said he was only looking for the people who would really be ruling with Christ in heaven.

  There was no push to find or convert non-anointed people because soon (1914) god would end wickedness, government infrastructure, commercial infrastructure and religious infrastructure, the big three (trinity?). Then the ordinary people on earth would be ushered into god's kingdom on earth as defined by the WTS.
