My "shameless" relationship with my ex wife
by Jayk ini've thought about keeping this to myself but i'm still confused on what i should do.. my ex wife(never been a jw) and myself(raised in the org till 16)have been reconnecting these past few weeks.
we been divorced for almost 10 years, we got married when we where pretty young, and it didnt last long.. fast forward 10 years, her and i have been reconnecting and things are getting semi serious.. she got remarried, divorced again, and recently broke up with her gf.
so in the past 10 years she has only been with 3 people (including myself) and here comes me "a sucker with no self esteem".

2019--Two New Documents Arrived!
by Atlantis in2019 congregation field service and meeting attendance report-s-1-e. https://docdro.id/tosesq0.

what is the teaching toolbox mentioned in above elders meeting documents?

I always wondered why when attendance was taken, that there was not a list of names and a box would be checked off if the person wasn't there and then tabulate how often individuals missed meetings and check with them.
After all, there were many jws who were doing it unofficially and gossiping about it.

You May Now Embrace the Bride!
by jp1692 injust yesterday, a pimi jw that i've known for years told me that at the end of a wedding they recently attended in pennsylvania, usa, the "brother" that officiated the ceremony concluded by saying to the bride and groom, "you may now embrace the bride.
no kissing.
just a hug.

I wonder why hugs are allowed when the WTS says even marriage mates "might" only be allowed to hold hands (discreetly, that is no one sees them doing it) at the meeting but not embracing each other, isn't that a hug?
*** w09 11/15 pp. 6-7 par. 19 What Do Your Prayers Say About You? ***
There may be a proper time and place for some actions that would be inappropriate at a Christian meeting. (Eccl. 3:1) For instance, suppose someone sought to have all in a group link arms or hold hands during such a prayer. This might offend or distract some, including visitors who do not share our beliefs. Some marriage mates might discreetly hold hands, but if they embraced each other during public prayer, those who got a glimpse of such conduct might be stumbled. They might think or get the impression that the couple was focusing on their romantic relationship instead of reverence for Jehovah. Out of deep respect for him, let us therefore “do all things for God’s glory” and avoid conduct that could distract, shock, or stumble anyone.—1 Cor. 10:31, 32; 2 Cor. 6:3.

tiki, I would suggest just looking at local stores, specializing in garden equipment. I'm sure there are other expanding hoses for sale. I buy online from Gardners Supply.

Ruin those Ruining th Earth
by peacefulpete init has been mentioned before but since we have been discussing environmental issues on another thread, i thought it might be timely to discuss rev 11:18 which has recently become a popular text for those christians concerned about environmental threats of pollution and climate change.
is this passage being interpreted correctly?
did the writer somehow anticipate the modern environmental situation, or did he intend something more in keeping with the bible's general concerns of morality and sin?.

I did a fairly good look at WOL and this is the first quote of Revelation 11:18 that connects to the idea of pollution. Remember that pollution was not a big topic in the world in general, the WTS tends to jump on the band wagon with their ideas when it becomes an issue outside the WTS and could attract attention to their publications. But not too long ago the WTS (Walkill) was charged with polluting their own property.

Science and technology boast of material progress, but for half a century they have in fact been ruining the earth. (Rev. 11:18) Self-seeking materialists have played havoc with the productive land, polluting air and soil, river and sea, and decimating the living resources of the earth

Said AA’s Virginia State Director Larry Mendoza:
We would rather that government property be free of religious speech altogether. However, to ensure religious equality for everyone, including atheists, I applied for equal access to two separate DMV locations, and will continue to request access on a regular basis
AA’s request was accepted by the Commissioner of the Virginia DMV Richard D Holcomb on September 11.

I found even as a PIMI that most jws I asked for specific things they heard or learned from the convention/meeting/talk, they would get that deer-in-the-headlights look and just say some general statement that could fit any WT event. Or worse yet, "it was all wonderful." They had no idea, nothing that stuck out in their minds.

I might add that a few of these products are sold in stores like Walmart, Walgreens, etc., locally, at a lower price, much lower.
I purchased one product at Walgreens after seeing it on tv, an alternate for shaving your legs, plucks the hair with a rotating coiled disk. Still have it and I'm still using it.
But I remember Teflon pans, never lasted more than a year. I have cast iron for some pans and and use stainless steel pots/pans for most of my cooking. I have a saute/omelet pan that use for most things, just 2 of us to cook for.
I do check online for reviews and cautions, sites that have no agenda. Reviews by unsatisfied customers.
