  I always wondered what the WTS phrase "present truth" meant? The WTS seems to imply that somehow "truth" changes, there must be a different past truth and a different future truth.

  In 1922, Watchtower released an article titled "Divinely-Given Chronological Parallelisms." Is the reader to believe the interpretation in the Watchtower was divinely-given, or just the Bible verses it was based on? Watchtower can say they never claimed their interpretation was divinely-given, yet that is very much the conclusion a reader would likely draw, after reading the article.

  "It has been shown in a preceding article that the parallel dates of present-truth chronology are proof of divine foreknowledge, and that they demonstrate that the system is of divine origin. ... So present-truth chronology is not an invention, but a discovery." Watch Tower 1922 Nov 15 p.355

  i'll be the first to say that the russian government is pretty terrible and overreaching in its', power but that's not what this is about.

  in a recent hearing, a witness for the jws said this under oath:.

  one thing makes jehovah’s witnesses unique: they do not rely on strict rules or the authority of any particular leader, instead, they try to help adherents develop a bible-trained conscience so that each individual can personally and voluntarily make decisions guided by the bible.. i'm sorry but that is just not true.

  a close-by young brother, actually your basic, garden-variety, sexually-repressed, 40-year old virgin in the congregation has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.

  i've known this guy since he was a kid and he has always been strange, in a nerdy kind of way.

  he always wants to sound knowledgeable and wise when he comments at meetings, but i think he is bi-polar and depressed about who he is in life.

  I might add, pedophilism is not a mental illness. I am sorry about how he grew up, without any outside professional help evidently, but I hope he gets the help he needs to learn what he can do not to offend again allegedly. Remember that the victim now has a slew of emotional issues to deal with their whole life.

  The reactive mind vs the thoughtful mind...

  a thought came to me as i was posting on another topic.

  my reactionary mind, responding to watchtower's cruel and hostile treatment of genuine truthseekers who can no longer reconcile with watchtower's narrative was, " may the collapse begin".. but then my thoughts turned to how that would affect my parents and siblings who are blissfully oblivious with their collective heads in the sand.

  all their hopes and future joy has been postponed for decades awaiting paradise while fighting off the black dog that is depression.

  The way most of my family (other than me) have gotten out, is to die. So far from my generation 3 have left and not come back. Their children are definitely out, never in. Fortunately the 3 still in have not had children, and the 2 on the edge, none of their children have ever been jws.

  It seems that the 3rd generation is not jws.

  in my experience, there were three types of witnesses.

  some were barely witnesses while others were extremely conservative types who followed the letter of the law.

  and then you had those in the middle who just went with the flow.. i knew many witnesses who “felt safe” being in a stricter environment.they were actually proud that they belonged to such and such congregation because it was filled with strict bethelites..
