I did that after I stopped attending any jw functions. I did not advertise my past status, but I would "say, my family are witnesses, I could help you 1. stop coming to your home 2. how to stop your friends/relatives getting involved with them, 3) what things you could share with them that would surprise people. It worked very well. A co-worker's daughter was getting numerous visits although she said she was "not interested." I asked had she taken any publications from these jws. Well, she had so the jw thought here was a hot prospect. Told him that his daughter should take no more material from them and say they should never come back again or she would take stronger measures. My doctors have asked me questions that they had outside work. I don't make a judgment or personal opinion, I let them share their own. I have probably over the years, convinced at least 50 people to get unentangled. I have a good thing I use, "What do you think?" and let it sit there.

Betty Georges - The Female Helper to the Governing Body
by MillennialDawn inbetty georges is listed as a helper to the governing body service committee, according to this page on the website: https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/governing-body-jw-helpers/.

Just a note, I most if not all of the helpers are not anointed. In about 1971 when the new "overseer" (not servant) set up was announced, it was explained the WTS was dividing the "spiritual" and "business" parts of the WTS. No longer a Board of Directors, with a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer. The male jws who held these offices were all anointed (except for Covington who stepped down because at the time he was not anointed). Thus the GB became specially selected anointed men (not a specific # required) who did not handle the administrative work but the "helpers" would do that. So those 2 seemingly female names, are not part of the GB. I would think that these are probably men that for some reasons have female sounding names. Like Shirley or Jody male character on family affair (https://bestlifeonline.com/johnny-whitaker-jody-family-affair-now-news/) As to Betty as others have said here, there are males listed in the records as being named Betty. I sure someone will find out that both are men.

She really didn't know he was removed.
I wonder how many JWs are in this boat ?
Just scary." Many jws don't even know what news is posted on jw.org and rely in the gossip mill to learn things, evidently she is out of the loop

Predict JW life in future
by ExBethelitenowPIMA ina sister said the other day at the ministry group “”what is all this talk that the end is still some way off” she said she has been waiting for decades and she was told there is no way it would take this long.
some others said in an annoyed kind of way yes they would have made different decisions decades ago if they knew the end still would not have come by 2023.. how will the majority react in a few more decades time when the end still hasn’t come?.
why all that talk of sense of urgency decades ago?.

There was a time when some ex-jws in jest connected the 120 years the people before the biblical flood were given to change and survive the flood. Add that to 1914 and you get 2034, when the end will come (jesting of course). My husband says, No More in '34.

Why are JW's THIS blind?
by BoogerMan ini had a conversation about this 22 carat gold contradiction with a couple of zealous jw's a couple of days ago.. even their personal "explanations" contradicted each other as they tried justify their cognitive dissonance!.
an absolute delight to witness such absurdity.. "after all, no one will be allowed to practice vile things in the new world.
the unrighteous must have practiced these vile things [john 5:29] before their death.

For JW lurkers - After Hamburg.................
by BoogerMan in.......do you still believe the organization's false teaching that romans 6:7 refer to a person's literal death?.

@ Blondie - Thanks for the Pure Worship book quote. That's a "new scrolls" reference not available on the CD ROM. Actually that was hard find, the scripture Isaiah 65:20 was hard to find, did not pop up on the CD. but I used the scrolls scripture and then it popped up when I did that. The WTS has buried scripture applications before in the past. Or the statement about the 1975 fiasco, 1st one in 1976 put the blame on the members, 1980 the WTS took some grudging responsibility for "part" of it. 1980 comments from 1980 where it refers back to the 1976 WT comments. WT 3/15/1980 pp. 17-18 " I had to take a phrase from the 1976 quote here with "" marks around it to find it at WT 7/15/1976 p. 441
5. (a) How did strong expectation develop regarding the year 1975? (b) Why did cautionary statements published not accomplish a curbing of such concern over a date?
5 In modern times such eagerness, commendable in itself, has led to attempts at setting dates for the desired liberation from the suffering and troubles that are the lot of persons throughout the earth. With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting—in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man’s existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, there were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility. It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated.
6. Did the information in the July 15, 1976, Watchtower endeavor to lay the responsibility for such expectation solely or primarily on its readers? Explain.
6 In its issue of July 15, 1976, The Watchtower, commenting on the inadvisability of setting our sights on a certain date, stated: “If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises.” In saying “anyone,” The Watchtower included all disappointed ones of Jehovah’s Witnesses, hence including persons having to do with the publication of the information that contributed to the buildup of hopes centered on that date.
7. (a) What effect should such human errors have on our faith in what God himself promises? (b) In actuality, what does God’s Word stress as the important factor?
7 Nevertheless, there is no reason for us to be shaken in faith in God’s promises. Rather, as a consequence, we are all moved to make a closer examination of the Scriptures regarding this matter of a day of judgment. In doing so, we find that the important thing is not the date. What is important is our keeping ever in mind that there is such a day—and it is getting closer and it will require an accounting on the part of all of us. Peter said that Christians should rightly be “awaiting and keeping close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah.” (2 Pet. 3:12) It is not a certain date ahead; it is day-to-day living on the part of the Christian that is important. He must not live a single day without having in mind that he is under Jehovah’s loving care and direction and must submit himself thereto, keeping also in mind that he must account for his acts."

I can remember hearing from the platform that those in Israel guilty of offenses were Those Israelites were put to death, thus their family could not talk to them. That the disfellowshipped should be considered as dead. Did anyone else hear that? "A heartrending experience for Aaron’s family is recorded at Leviticus 10:1-11. They must have been devastated when fire from heaven consumed Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu at the tabernacle. What a test of faith it was for Aaron and his family not to mourn their dead relatives! Are you personally proving yourself holy with regard to not associating with family members or others who have been disfellowshipped?—Read 1 Corinthians 5:11. (2014 11/15 WT p 14)
