The WTS has said for a long time that volunteers first qualification to consider their "spiritual standing" in their congregation. That means some people without any building experience were put in charge of those that did. What a nightmare that has proved to be for the WTS. Many jws did not realize that the WTS has been hiring outside non-jw contractors for some due to the specific skills needed for that type of construction. Many jws think that WTS uses only jw lawyers, but same problem, lawyers specialize in certain areas and jw lawyers have no skill in abuse cases. So the WTS has hired outside lawyers skilled in abuse cases. When it comes to losing money, that is most important, that someone's spiritual standing, but their professional skills put to the test and current.

The WTS has said that one cannot understand or have prayers heard by god without going through the Watchtower organization. Though the Bible consistently says it is faith in Jesus that is important, Watchtower shifts attention to the Organization with statements such as "we must uphold the truth of that organization." (Watchtower 1961 May 1 p.276) The Governing Body uses this principle to set itself as a spiritual authority above the Bible, such as when stating:

Vidiot, my husband got a shorter haircut than he intended, and he was counseled by the elders that he looked like a thug, gangster, etc. He hardly had any hair anyway. I guess it depends on the BOE to set the rules for their own congregation, so said the CO.
