Where are the funds going to come from? Warwick Expansion

so with the news that they are remodeling patterson and expanding warwick, where are the funds going to come from?.

could this be a ruse like the need for thousands of kingdom halls proclaimed a few years back only to be replaced with the we realized the halls were not at capacity and the great sell-off began?.

maybe the hope is going to be that the sheep will give give give and then all of the sudden, after prayerful consideration the gb have determined that the current resources are sufficient to create the needed media and content.. my bet is that in 10 years it will all be consolidated to warwick and walkill and patterson will be sold to who i have no idea, but they own a ton of property in upstate ny..

The WTS has been known to take out loans from non-jw banks etc using their property as collateral.

Since the WTS seems to be dunning their members for money despite the sale of some of their properties, I wonder if jws are actually heeding the calls for more donations. Since it is voluntary and somewhat confidential, how do they know who isn't donating? I doubt that tithing is an option unless they backdoor it like expecting congregation donations to be the same as their forgiven mortgage payment, oh they do that already. But then it is only at the congregation level not by individuals.

Pete Zahut, can I assume you are a man? Then, I can understand why it doesn't matter to you. Women might not view it the same way. It is a reminder to jw women how low they are in the hierarchy in the WTS. Probably lower than a dog.

Thanks, Atlantis. My husband reminded me when he was still an elder, I read on JWN about the non-letter that would be read to the BOE at the next CO visit; about taking a blood transfusion would no longer be a df'ing offense but an act of disassociating themselves from the WTS.

Was he shocked when that is what exactly happened, he came and asked me if I was getting messages from God, tongue in cheek, of course.

Need help in finding some information regarding the Adam and Eve tale.

i am finally at the point in my life i no longer believe in the tales of the bible.

my husband feels for the most part that it too is stuff made up.

there are just a few things that he wants to get cleared up, and one of those being the story of adam and eve.

The WTS says that Adam and Eve at that time did not know where the tree of life, and it just looked like any other tree. Of course, I think this is an allegory because too many questions and points come up showing it does match up with real life.

When the Finished Mystery book came out in 1918, it had some portions so offensive to the US government, that the WTS actually had to remove those parts from a later printing, but it did not stop the government from taking legal steps. It was that information that eventually led to the WTS Board of Directors being sent to prison.

No time to any links on right now. But I'm sure a search of JWN will come up with some info.

I would think no Jewish man would have married her knowing of her father's vow to God.

If she married a non-jew, that would open up another kind of censure.

Some people believe that she was sacrificed in religious fire. But I don't think that was the drift of the account. But then some believe these are only teaching stories, allegories.

Our Spiritual Heritage of Failed Expectations

last sunday's watchtower tells the story of a man who:.

was baptized in 1908 at the age of 20. he was very confident that he would soon receive his reward.

in fact, when he proposed marriage in 1911, he told his prospective bride, pearl: “you know what is going to happen in 1914. if we are going to get married, we better do it soon!” did this christian couple give up the race for life when they did not receive their heavenly reward in 1914?

As to 2 people married to each other both claiming to be anointed; before 1932, most jws (Bible Students) and the WTS felt there was really on one hope for those getting baptized. Today, it is hard to imagine a congregation where every baptized jw had the hope of going to heaven to rule with Jesus. Most of us knew few and they were much older, and some of us didn't know any jws who claimed to be anointed.

53 years ago (around the mid-60's I did meet a couple where she did not consider herself anointed but her husband did. They were in their 80's then and come into the WTS in their 20's. So they were of the pre-1932 but she did not claim to be anointed. So there were a few jws (Bible Students) that did not claim to be anointed but they were looked on with suspicion, thinking these people must have did not understand the holy spirit's choosing them. BTW, Ray Franz claimed to be anointed, but his wife Cynthia did not.

I am not surprised, Atlantis. The WTS has always been afraid to give its members any freedom regarding research unless it is in the WTS publications. And even that is controlled regarding older WTS publications. That is why my motto regarding responding to jws, it so hang the WTS with their own words.

Yes, starting with Russell who said that if someone tried to read the Bible without the WTS publications, they would learn nothing might even end off worse. So the Bible itself is not enough but things have to be written to support it. Sounds like the Talmud with its over 600 additions to the law code.

It is no wonder that the Jesus of the bible said the religious leaders of his day were making the word of God invalid.

(Of course, some will say that Jesus never existed and the bible is only the work of humans, but some humans do put value in it, so if they do the same as the people Jesus condemned, they can consider themselves condemned by their teacher.)
