blondie, it's so nice to hear from you after a two year break.

i didn't notice your return 10 days ago.

i'm so excited to read all your new posts.. i hope life has treated you well over the last two years.. i think about you every now and then and others do as well.

I confirm this. We found out that day from Cynthia because we were just leaving to come down to visit them. We were stunned but told Cynthia we would stop by anyway for a short chat. It was so sad for her, a loving partner for so long. She and Ray did so much to help PIMOs and POMOs and others with painful questions, loving them and supporting them. Both bought out much time from their personal lives.

Commander...if memory serves me, I believe Ray took a fall on some ice and hit his head. That led to brain hemorrhage complications and his passing a few days after the fall. Blondie should be able to confirm or correct my recollection.

What I noticed over the years is that the WTS often makes statements with the phrase "Jehovah and Jesus Christ" always putting Jesus in second place or an afterthought. Checking their songs, I found that "Jehovah" was used overwhelming more than "Jesus." Very few songs featured Jesus alone. While even their bible only uses the phrase "witnesses of Jesus" in the new testament, the WTS calls its members, "Jehovah's witnesses." So jws tend to leave Jesus out of the conversation, only a tool used by their god to provide jws eternal life on a paradise earth. The WTS says that their members cannot approach their god except through the governing body; that one cannot pray through Jesus alone. I am not surprised that many if not most jws do not mention their love for Jesus much in the sense you picture. Start of the Great Tribulation will be announced soon

at the 2021 annual meeting, samuel herd revealed new light and claimed the anointed will all have passed away before armageddon.

it has since been revealed that while they will die before armageddon, there will be some anointed still around that will witness the start of the great tribulation.. so the question is, how many years until the existing members of the governing body have passed away?.

im not a doctor, but based on their age and various stages of obesity, im thinking 10- 15 years- give or take, sounds about right.. with that in mind, the great tribulation could be announced any day.. the new understanding has now freed the org from the burden of having to identify a particular generation in relation to the date of armageddon.

blondie, don't you mean 120 years before the flood, instead of 120 days before the flood? DJ w Thanks for catching that! Of course, there is no scriptural support for this, I said it in the past as a joke, not a real belief, mine especially. It shows how easy it is to set a date. The WTS once said the great tribulation started in 1914 and was temporarily put on hold until a future date. The WTS then changed it to that the great tribulation had not started yet and was yet future. They through some jws into a loop, my family had always maintained that the GT had not started in 1914, but kept it to themselves. But when the change came, they burned up the telephone lines discussing it (across the country when long distance was expensive). I don't support the WTS views past or present, just reporting not supporting.

When I first left, in jest I combined the scripture where god pronounced a period of 120 days before he would bring the flood. I labeled the date of the pronouncement equivalent to 1914. Then I added 120 years to that and came up with 2034, a WT tactic when determining dates, combining 2 concepts that had nothing to do with each other and coming to a conclusion. So it was this slogan, "No More, after Thirty-Four." My husband and I joke about that, he'll yell out that to me. It seemed to stop being a "joke" and other ex-jws have used this idea. But it is still a joke to us, and it still makes us laugh.

is it possible that jw's would get so worn out by watchtower 's bullshit that they would stand up gather their stuff and walk out of a meeting or a convention.

WC, 1) comparing jws to a baby elephant tied with a chain to a big post, the baby learned it could only go so far, and even when it became a large elephant it didn't realize it could pull the post up, and leave. Brainwashing?

2) If a jw had a non-jw husband, they were married to a "walking corpse."

3)"If Jesus saW a shiny penny and a dirty quarter, Jesus would pickup the shiny penny." Does that make sense? Jesus would not notice or pickup a dirty quarter, only a shiny penny. So is that what Jesus was looking for shiny people, or the ones looked like a dirty quarter?

Does the WTS have a clergy class

this can be confusing because the wts has adjusted from not having a clergy class to not having a "paid" clergy class.. "a congregation of brothers precludes having a proud clergy class that honors itself with high-sounding titles and elevates itself above a laity" wt 6/1/2001 p. 12, pp 11. still same idea in 2021 wt october, p. 20, pp.

7, but 2022 in the wt publication, frequently asked questions about jehovah’s witnesses, page 13, the wts inserts "paid" in front of "clergy perhaps to shore up their current statement in secular courts they have clergy, just not paid) "following the model of first-century christianity, jehovah’s witnesses have no clergy-laity division.

all baptized witnesses are ordained ministers and share in the preaching and teaching work.

ozziepost, there are no longer district assemblies, they are called regional conventions. I think it was a cost-saving measure when the WTS eliminated that group in the line of authority.

Congregation in PA sues over mandatory reporting

ivy hill congregation of jehovah's witnesses is currently suing the pa department of human services.

it requests "a declaration that its elders are entitled to" clergy privilege, or, in the alternative,.

to the extent that the clergyman privilege is determined to exclude its elders on the basis that they are "members of [a] religious organization[] in which members other than the leader thereof are deemed clergymen or ministers," the court declare the statute to be unconstitutional.

Rattigan350, I was just saying how the WTS is being deceitful, hiding behind the label "clergy." at the same time saying they are not a clergy. Nothing really stays secret on an elder body. It only takes one elder telling his talkative wife, or nosy family members who look at KH files he has unlocked in a file at home (not allowed), or family members who listen in on phone calls. The WTS only tries hard to keep secret who the pedophiles are in their midst, or accept their plea for forgiveness, means slate clean and pedophile is very likely to continue abusing/raping children. I know that confidentiality is found among other disciplines, but then it means nothing if that individual tells other (even other psychiatrists, doctors, lawyers, etc).
