As to reinstatements, there used to be a period of time after that where if the person re-offended they would automatically df'd, not another judicial committee. They called it probation. I found this quote about how long after reinstatement, could one be approved for auxiliary pioneering (1983) "Questions have been raised as to how long one must wait after a reproof or reinstatement before qualifying for appointment as an auxiliary pioneer. Since all pioneers are required to be exemplary in conduct, this privilege may not be extended to one until at least one year has passed following a reproof or reinstatement from disfellowshipping or disassociation. All restrictions imposed by the judicial committee must already have been removed." (Restrictions put on people during after reinstatement could be not being allowed to comment at meetings or be on the theocratic school, men not being able to give prayers at meetings, etc.) 1970: Probation "Nor is that all. For a youth associated with a truly Christian congregation such a deed might well result in his being disfellowshiped, being cut off from the congregation. And if he seeks reinstatement, he must show his sincerity by attending congregation meetings with no one speaking to him, all the while giving evidence of repentance. Then he would be put on probation for a time, and for years thereafter he would be denied special privileges and advancement in Jehovah’s organization."

In days gone past, the person's name was announced, the sin they were df'd for, and it was announced in all the neighboring congregations as well. The WTS changed that probably for legal reasons.

In this area, the local Assembly Hall is being used for regional conventions spread over 6
weekends. That building has only seats for about 2500 with all the seats filled. Things are a-changing.

Around 1950, the WTS quietly stopped forbidding vaccinations. Legal concerns seem to be a factor behind the Watchtower Society reversing its position and allowing vaccinations in 1952. "The matter of vaccination is one for the individual that has to face it to decide for himself. Each individual has to take the consequences for whatever position and action he takes toward a case of compulsory vaccination, doing so according to his own conscience and his appreciation of what is for good health and the interests of advancing God’s work. And our Society cannot afford to be drawn into the affair legally or take the responsibility for the way the case turns out.
After consideration of the matter, it does not appear to us to be in violation of the everlasting covenant made with Noah, as set down in Genesis 9:4, nor contrary to God’s related commandment at Leviticus 17:10-14. Most certainly it cannot reasonably or Scripturally be argued and proved that, by being vaccinated, the inoculated person is either eating or drinking blood and consuming it as food or receiving a blood transfusion. Vaccination does not bear any relationship to or any likeness to the intermarriage of angelic “sons of God” with the daughters of men, as described in Genesis 6:1-4. Neither can it be put in the same class as described at Leviticus 18:23, 24, which forbids the mingling of humans with animals. It has nothing to do with sex relations.
Hence all objection to vaccination on Scriptural grounds seems to be lacking."

Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!

it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.
this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

My family had many men who did the accounts, and had knowledge who really gave, especially those who gave over $250 at one time, because they needed a receipt to give the IRS to claim the donation. My husband heard people say they didn't have enough money, and then talk about how they rented DVDs at the cost of $5 a pop. Even $5 a month would have been something. The men who handle accounting know how few donate based on the amount of money they get each month that barely cover the utilities. While the WTS no longer makes loans and collect payments, they expect at least $8.50 per publisher per month to be sent to the WTS (sounds almost like tithing). The brothers who did accounting knew that the utilities had to be paid, or the electricity, water, gas would be turned off, and the KHs would be dark, cold/warm depending on the season, and no water to flush the toilets or provide drinking water. It was a juggling act to get things paid. Believe me, the younger jws will not step up especially if they did not see their parents donating. Jws don't even have to pay for the publications. One elder said on the platform, "It is easier for a jw to break a commandment than break a twenty."

1991 "The Watchtower is by far the most widely distributed religious magazine in the world."
What does it say on the inside page over the cover, paper version? It used to say something about it what the distribution is?
Add to this, how many jws actually read the WT magazines, even before presenting them to non-jws? Not many in my experience.

In 2022 the WTS, adjusted the UN's role "Yes, Jehovah will motivate the nations to use the scarlet-colored wild beast, that is, the United Nations, to turn on the world empire of false religion and completely destroy it." So it does mean the UN will act on their own, but the nations with influence the UN to do it.
