@blondie: nobody "carried away" the Jews. DNA evidence is quite clear, people with what we call Jewish origin have lived there for thousands of years in what the Romans called "Syria-Palestina"."
I guess I was influenced by some things I read in Josephus writings. Some Jews did get away and were not taken to Rome and some were deported to Carthage. But as a religious national entity no mmore even more complete than when a vassal, that seemed to be gone, probably why the UN and other nations supported this the following. (I felt it was guilt over not really doing anything to save the Jews in Europe, knowing what was happening to the Jews then.)
