Sarah Brooks video testimony in front of PA Senate hearing on statute of limitations of child sexual abuse
by WingCommander ini heard that this hearing had commenced last week, and today i found the actual video of the entire hearing.
for context: pennsylvania still has an outdated law wherein an abuse victim only has a certain amount of time to come forward and have their abuser charged with a crime.
several abuse victim advocacy groups have been lobbying and petitioning around the country in states where these statute of limitations remain in order to rewrite the laws to eliminate such time frames so that victims of abuse can come forward at any time in the future and press charges.

JWs, The WatchTower Society, Child Abuse and Disfellowshipping
by Simon insomething just struck me.. is the wts the only religion that won't kick people out for abusing children, but would kick you out for visiting a website that informs you that the wts won't kick people out for abusing children .... it really shows where their sensibilities lie.
they are more interested in acting as gatekeepers to information, especially information about them, than providing basic levels of protection to the children of their members.. maybe someone with a better turn of phrase can shorten it, it might make a good meme - something short and simple that really makes people think:.
"the wts - tougher on those who read reports of jw child abuse than on jws who conduct child abuse".

Now there's a true statement!
If a JW were to warn others in the congregation about child abuse, they would disfellowship that person. But the one committing the crime can just deny it, and nothing will be done. Business as usual.

I just sent you an email with 2 BOE's instructing public speakers and elders on extensive research. The Society makes claims research has already been provided by them and their outlines. (1999 and 2007) Don't be drinking any coffee when you read them.
If you think the BOE's are bad, you should see the Qualified to be Ministers book. Oh brother! Talk about mind control! (QM pg.16)
Back in the 50's the WT even said it was ok to go to the public library to research extra materials. If an elder tried that today he would probably get the firing squad. Or busted down to mowing the grass!
