Yes. 609 is when the Assyian King Ashureuballit's reign ended. Babylon and the Medes divided the empire among them self. Babylon chose Judah and surrounding countries. Got my info. from Funk and Wagnalls encyclopedia.

My understanding of the "70 Years" and the "Babylonian Exile" (without chronology)
by Doug Mason inin my view, there needs to be a very clear decoupling of the destruction wrought on jerusalem/judah from the 70 years of servitude/babylonian domination.. .
the destruction was the outcome of the people failing over many centuries to obey god, and it was a conditional prophecy, the outcome of which depended on the people's response.. .
however, the servitude to babylon, experienced by several countries, was an unconditional prophecy.

I agree, the 70 years is how long Babylon had world power. And Babylon fell in 539 so add 70 to 539 =609 as the start of Babylon's Supremacy.

Hi and welcome. Glad to hear you got out and free now. It's been about 5 years for me. When I found out how sorry the organization was, it took me about 2 months to leave. So many sincere ones still in. Some will never leave even tho they know it's wrong. My Daughter for one. Hope to see a lot more like you on here.

Question regarding JW and military service.
by Alligator Wisdom indoes anyone know when the wts started to refused baptism for those who were enlisted as active duty in the armed forces (military)?.
any reference material would be appreciated.. from what i remember hearing, back in the olden days (pre-50's or 60's) anyone wishing to be baptized only had to show up at a convention or assembly to get dunked.
no questions.

Alligator, not sure it can be brought up wihout throwing an Apostate flag. I just tell everyone on this board in case they don't know about it so they can see what hypocrites the Watchtower Society is.

"Student soldiers were encouraged to fire in the air in order to not become blood guilty" The watchtower is blood guilty theirself. They own 50% of a company that makes war weapons. Go to search and click on "Watchtower and Warfare Technology."

Need help disproving 607BCE
by 2pink ini hope i am posting in the right board.. anyway, i am newly out of the org, and have a dear friend who i've been speaking to all along about my thought process/decisions.
she has been hesitantly receptive (how's that for confusing?!
lol) and when i brought up 607bce to her yesterday, she was truly intrigued and had not heard of this as a false date before.. she is still half in/half out, so i know she isn't going to do a lot of naughty independent research on her own.

Scholar, I still want you to tell me when King Neb. 1st year to rule was. Is the question too hard?

All one has to do in that organization to be a scholar is lie, they must not can think for their self or they could answer simple questions like, When was King Neb. 1st year to rule, How will you respond when society drops 1914, How can Daniel be taken in 618 and taken again in 617. They are only scholars because they say they are.

Scholar, doesn't answer any direct question because he can't. It might be because he is not allowed to think for himself.
