I think JWs agree with this: the parable of the dragnet.

Jehovah`s Witnesses / Parasites On Christendom ,they need to thank them for the membership they have today.
by smiddy3 injehovah`s witnesses claim that all their beliefs are based on the bible.the bible clearly states early on in deut.4:2 not to add to the word....and rev.22:18 re-iterates much the same thing in not to make additions to the word of god.. i think we could agree on that the organization has raised the bar on that one with their "weasel" words on so many issues that have already been thrashed out on this forum.. so a few other things that come to my mind are : with regards to j.w`s being parasites on christendom.. 1. they claim christendom apostatized itself from true christianity by the 3rd century , yet they accept apostate christendoms determination of what books are to be included in the bible as gods word as if they were governed by holy spirit to do so.?.
2.jehovah`s witnesses have only ever followed in christendoms missionaries footsteps where they have gone preaching and poaching off of the work these missionaries that have laid the groundwork before them .. 3.jehovah`s witnesses have never opened up virgin territory and gone where no other christian missionary has ever gone before .
{ not to my knowledge anyway i stand to be corrected if i am wrong on this point}.

If the Watchtower corporation went bust
by Fred Franztone inwhat do you think would happen to jehovah's witnesses as a religion and as a people?.

I agree Watchtower is in the middle of collapsing, as evidenced by selling off branches, firing special pioneers and sending bethelites home.
Except I think it could get a whole lot worse. They could start selliing KHs and assembly halls even where there is no plausible organisational justification.
Plus the new branch in England is a real one to watch. In reality they don't need it any more at all, because it won't do any printing. But to reverse plans and sell it off would be such a major climbdown they will only do it if they absolutely have to. Which I think they will, and send the money the United States to keep the headquarters functioning just a little bit longer.

How soon is soon?
by Sour Grapes ini guess if the jdubs have no clue how long a generation is they also wouldn't know how long a time period the word "soon" refers too.. 60 years ago my mother would hammer into my brain how soon the great tribulation was.
soon jehovah would destroy the wicked.
then a few years later there was no need to go to college because the end was so soon.

I believe Watchtower writers could benefit from an explanation of "near and far" from our old pal Grover.

Interesting that 1999 lists Albert and (presumably) his wife Charlotte, plus his son Judah Ben Schroeder and (presumably) his wife Amber, plus "Jacob Schroeder", another son?
The 2015 directory has no Schroeders, so presumably they left after Albert (and his wife?) died?

Watchtower back to criticising the United Nations
by AverageJoe1 inthe outline number 44 from this year’s regional assembly states:.
la organización de las naciones unidas es en realidad una falsificación del reino mesiánico, y es una ofensa para dios.. .
translation: “the united nations organisation is actually a counterfeit of the messianic kingdom, and it is offensive to god.”.

I was not aware Watchtower ever stopped condemning the United Nations.

Clearly, undeniably, without doubt ... is there a term for introducing a thought in such a way.
by jwfacts inwatchtower article often introduce a point that has no merit with words such a "undeniably.".
for instance the watchtower 2014 august 15 page 10 says:.
"jehovah undeniably blesses the preaching work of christian women and supports them in times of trial.

Incidentally, it was one such word, so the story goes, that made my father in law leave JWs. He was reading the section "chronology" in the old Aid book, which used the word "evidently" in relation to 607 BCE, with no actual justification before or after. He concluded he couldn't believe in the teachings on the basis of an "evidently".

Adverbs of certainty, apparently. I mean, definitely.

Undeniably there should be a technical term for this kind of usesage. Evidently there are other words that could be added to the list. Clearly Watchtower frequently use such words in place of arguments. No doubt there will be someone on the forum who knows the term.

Do You Know Any “Gay” Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by minimus inof course the religion condemns homosexuality but did you know any gay witnesses?
i knew some bethelites that were very effeminate and i remember 4 women who were suspected of being lesbians by many in the congregation.
they eventually moved away and were very vocal against males, especially elders..

Yes, I knew a couple. Well, not a couple. Two individuals, to be precise.

Russia Uses Nerve Agent to Assassinate Spy
by cofty inwhat started as news of a man and woman being found unconscious on a park bench 12 days ago is escalating into an international incident.. sergei skripal had worked as a double agent for british intelligence mi6 before he was discovered and imprisoned in russia in 2006. he was later flown to england as part of a spy-swap in 2010. on sunday 4th march he was discovered along with his 33 year old daughter yulia close to a shopping centre in salisbury.. since then the story has become increasingly bizarre.
a policeman who was first to attend the scene also became critically ill and remains in hospital.
government scientists at porton down have confirmed that the cause is a russian military-grade nerve agent novichok.

I don't believe it. Why would Russia do this against their own interest? The British state is one of the biggest and most notorious liars in history.
