Sounds like she’s really saying: “you owe me a life of adherence and agreement with Watchtower because that makes me feel better about myself and my own choices in life.”

As regards the trend, what would be really useful would be to have the numbers from before, during, and after Lett made a special appeal for funds in 2015.

There’s no way JWs contribute £50 a month on average. In a nearby congregation it’s around £450 for the congregation and £250 for the worldwide work per month. That’s £700 divided by 45 publishers equals just over £15 per publisher per month. I guess you need to add direct giving and legacies to that, but I’d be surprised if that brought it even to £20. Probably that congregation is below average but not a complete outlier.

Watchtower finances look okay in Ireland at least. They don’t have a branch to maintain any more so I’m not sure where all the money goes. Although I heard they still own the branch building and use it for meetings. Maybe the Britain branch will be asking for some of the money to be transferred, or the US.
Their level of donations indicates that each publisher contributed over €300 to the WWW over the last year. That’s a bit higher than I would have guessed, but it does include legacies. Nevertheless I think it’s probably lower than most other comparable groups.

J.W's Brain LOCKDOWN
by Phizzy ini know we often talk of the mind control and how jw's believe what they are taught because they are controlled as to the information they receive, but i think the mind control goes frighteningly beyond simply keeping information away from them.. the jw mind is in lockdown.
it simply cannot accept facts, evidence, reasoning or whatever that goes against what they believe.
they cannot assimilate and consider an argument, it is not that they are being awkward, or willfully blind, their minds are so shut down they are incapable of taking in what is being presented.. i am aware of how, in common with other cults and high control groups the j.w org achieves this state among its members, but how on earth do we open such a solidly closed mind ?.

Yes there is a certain irony that you claim to respect facts in theory, but can’t seem to deal with them in a real discussion.

Clarification needed re shunning policy
by UnshackleTheChains ini am in the process of writing to parliament about the practice of shunning by jehovah's witnesses.
what i need to clarify if the practice is 'specifically' mentioned in any of the books used for bible study/ recruitment leading up to baptism?.
i would be grateful if anyone could clarify this in case i get my facts wrong when writing my letter..

There is a further appendix in the God’s Love book about how DFed people should be treated.

The JW mind is in LOCKDOWN. It simply cannot accept facts, evidence, reasoning or whatever that goes against what they believe. They cannot assimilate and consider an argument, it is not that they are being awkward, or willfully blind, their minds are so shut down they are INCAPABLE of taking in what is being presented.
Characteristics that some carry with their new set of beliefs, as evidenced on this forum, by the avoidance of facts and incoherent short or one word replies.

I want to be all my dog believes me to be ...
by compound complex ingreetings, pet owners and lovers:.
while i have no pets of my own, i do care for dogs and cats and have cared for bunnies and guinea pigs in the past.
i'm working on an essay with an 11-year-old student, and the subject is symbiotic relationships and how humans learn from their close interaction with animals.. here is a portion of the reference material under study:.

Let’s not entirely disparage human discernment. After all a dog will greet someone the same, whether they’ve been out helping people all day, or murdering.
JWs have a problem because the affection they show is highly conditional on believing the same things and accepting JW authority structure. But no healthy affection is really completely unconditional, because there are things even those we care about the most could say and do that would weaken or break our affection. It’s just that the kinds of things it would take are very different from the superficial reasons that JWs cast people aside.

So much wrong with today's text....
by doubtfull1799 in"jehovah takes the initiative to bless his loyal servants.".
this statement is a contradiction or on oxymoron or something.... if they already had to demonstrate loyalty before he acted then he did not take the initiative!.
our faith is not complete unless we are convinced that jehovah will reward....yes faith involves the certain expectation of gods promised blessings.. so they condemn people for "serving to a date", the carrot if you like, and being disappointed when there blessings do not materialise at the promised time... yet say that the carrot is an important part of faith!!!.

Do they still print the days text as a booklet, does anyone know?
I preferred this verse in the old NWT - a blessing until there is no more want.
