I was talking to a young Unitarian the other day, a student in his final year. He told me his only exposure to JW beliefs was “that weird animation about leaving gayness behind”. I think he must have meant this video.
What a thing to be known for.
wow!.
so as many of us know, alex o'connor (cosmicskeptic) did a great video a few years back in response to the appallingly homophobic caleb and sophia cartoon!.
he gets a lot of views for his videos, but this one has more than any other presentation by him!

while searching for some jw related stuff online, i stumbled across this page created by a pimi.
his name is steve mcdowell and a watered down version of his story was published in the watchtower https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20150701/bad-to-worse-life-story/.
however, this version, he says, is the full version.
Yes it always felt as if the “life stories” had the interesting bit cut out - because they did.
has anybody seen the new online bible study yet, just posted yesterday i believe?
it's the first thing you see now when going to the home page.
the online bible study lessons on jw.org are free, have no obligation, and are easy to use.
What ever next? #ongoingcollapse #morphdevelopments #themoneyisrunningout

Except Sir, it’s a bit complicated by the fact that, for a period, Watchtower considered unbaptised publishers subject to congregation discipline. It’s concevable that someone being removed as an unbaptised publisher could have been described as “disassociated” at that time.
I’d like to know if there is other evidence Michael Jackson was baptised.
Young Lett looks almost normal.
i'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.
i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.
hmu..
I didn’t say God was any of those things.
What I am saying is that God may exist in such as way that is not identical to any particular human conception of him or faith tradition. Therefore even if you eliminate every human construction of God ever conceived you have still not touched the central issue of whether there is a God at all.
It seems perfectly possible, even likely, if God exists, that his nature and characteristics are such that have not been mapped out by any particular depiction of him.
It seems odd to make the existence of God implicitly contingent on any humans having defined him properly. God can probably exist or not exist without humans necessarily having correctly described his nature.
can anyone remember or point me to a quote in either the watchtower or awake where they spoke adversely about some of the violent scenes in the original blade runner film.
.
thanks.
Watchtower was always good at subtweeting songs or movies it didn’t like, before Twitter was even a thing.

Reason is the enemy of faith.
Not so sure about that. Some people would say the opposite. For many, the ability of humans to reason, and to understand the world around us, is one of the biggest reasons for believing in a deity who ensured the universe would contain beings able to understand its nature. The most remarkable thing about the universe is not even its nature, as such, or its configuration or laws, although all those things are remarkable. The most remarkable thing is that we humans are able to make sense of it. Or as Einstein said: the eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility. The fact that the world is comprehensible is a miracle.
excuse me, don't make sense to me.
what say you...
My grandad was very lucid the day before he died. He also said his dead mother spoke to him and told him not to worry. You just tend to routinely dismiss these things on so-called rational grounds. But if they are so common and so matter of fact, should they be dismissed so easily?

Very interesting discussion on life after death with John Cleese.
We seem to be on the cusp of a paradigm shift because physicalism now seems very shaky indeed.
is the term "waking up" the best way to describe when a jdub starts to have doubts?
to me, it is rather that a jdub realizes that what they have believed for years was a pack of lies and then they have to make a conscious decision if they want to continue to believe in lies or stop being a jdub or just go along for the ride.. it just amazes me how many die-hard jdubs there are despite every failed prophecy about the end coming, the borg being a part of the dreaded wild best united nations, the put down of women in the borg, the massive cover-up of the child abuse in the borg, the willingness to let a child die because they need blood, and the eagerness to shun a child who at the age of 10 got dunked to make mommy and daddy happy only to not want to be a jdub later and have the parents treat them like they are dead because 8 overweight, balding, goofy looking, incoherent men in upper state new york say that are the rules for being a christain.. jehovah's witnesses are a very sad cult that attracts people with emotional, psychological, or medical issues, have very large egos, can't make simple decisions, and believe in the tooth fairy..
