“Christians” go to war and kill each other.
JWs refuse to go to war.
christians look to jesus as the redeeemer of mankind.. jw's look to jesus as the executioner of mankind!.

saw this great video today showing the evolutionary process of humans in 3 minutes.
the fossil record shows that 400 million years ago our ancestors were a type of fish.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsszn4biwzg.

Yes.
just skimmed through the latest broadcast.
( yes - i know , i should really get a life!
a lot of it seems to be regurgitated videos from previous months.
Thanks dozy for the summary, definitely more succinct and to the point than certain other online reviews of the broadcast.
Interesting that they are reusing video material. Is Watchtower actually producing any new stuff these days?
i'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.
i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.
hmu..
As I understand it rainbows are a result of light refracting through moisture in the lower atmosphere. I have not heard of a serious alternative explanation involving unicorns.
For many people the idea of God explains why there is something rather than nothing, because he is understood to be a being outside of material reality who is the ultimate cause of everything that exists. For many people this makes more sense than simply asserting that reality exists and no further explanation is required or even possible.

Because the existence of God explains the existence of the reality, its configuration for life, and human consciousness, all of which cry out for explanation. The idea of a “pink unicorn” doesn’t seem to help explain anything.
so here in the uk this video is getting jws very excited.
now my mum actualy said it wa funny to hear jw music at the start and finish.
so i'm wondering if the watchtower had any input into this.
So many things to say about this film.
Overall I enjoyed it and found it persuasive actually. The story of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the divine name is a remarkable one and they tell some of that story sometimes compellingly.
But why not mention that Rolf Furuli and Gerard Gertoux are JWs? I guess Didier Fontaine didn’t make the cut because he’s not JW loyalist enough. And what’s the deal with Stephan Mark, who is he? He’s inside a church, so presumably not a JW.
Very interesting quotes from Christian sources about disuse of the divine name. I do suspect they are correct that the churches stopped using the name in part because JWs use the name.
They describe the NWT simply as “one popular version”. Such furtiveness does them no favours.
The quote from Nehemia Gordon about the Holocaust is a bit disturbing.
The video claims that there were more JWs at the end of Nazi rule than before. I don’t think this is correct. There were around 20,000 JWs at the beginning of the Third Reich, and around 10,000 at the end. It took a few years for them to pass the pre-Nazi peak in the postwar years. I am not certain about these figures (off the top of my head) but I am fairly certain the number of JWs decreased over the Nazi period. Some 1,200 were killed, but many others abandoned the faith because of persecution.
But overall a very interesting video on the divine name.
And yes Drei Linden is an independent JW media outlet in Germany. It is interesting that they are still producing such material in contravention of Watchtower’s 2007 censure of such activity. I do not think this material is Watchtower approved. No official from the organisation makes any appearance, and those JWs who do appear, Gertoux and Furuli, are arguably marginal these days.

I was going to say the same. The earth is 4.6 billion years old whereas humans have been around for about 200,000 years, depending on how you define humans.
200,000 divided by 4.6 billion = 0.00004347826087
There are 84,600 seconds in a day, so that means humans have been around for 3.76 seconds, if the entire history of the earth was 24 hours.
My result is different than amiable atheist because he uses 500,000 years rather than 200,000 years as the history of man.
If the history of the earth was 24 hours, then maybe mammals first appeared around about half an hour before midnight. That might be where the misunderstanding comes from.
edit: I see amiable atheist has changed his calculation from 500,000 to 300,000 for the history of man, so our results are now closer together.
... well, obviously not rey (daisy ridley) from the latest star wars films.
she's a complete mary sue.
but, before hollywood tried to force sjw propaganda down our throats, there were lots of powerful, legit female characters in film.. here are some of my favourites .... ripley (sigourney weaver): i though this character was great.
Um Kathy Bates, in Dolores Claiborne?

There are different kinds of agnosticism. Some agnostics think that the question of whether there is a God is unknowable. Other agnostics think that it is possible the question may be settled but that they do not have sufficient basis on which to settle the issue at present. I find myself agreeing with the latter outlook.
These two broad strands of agnosticism do not exhaust the different ways the term has been used and applied.
today the dutch house of representatives unanimously voted to petition the government to start an investigation into jw child abuse issues.. the request from the house of reps. came after jw nl refused to listen to repeated and serious requests from the government to start an independent investigation themselves.. now it's up to the government to either accept the request by the house of reps. and start an investigation, or refuse to do so and explain to the house why.
it appears the minister of justice is not unwilling to start an investigation though.... collection of dutch news items here.
Jws said “no” and the reason is because the actual cases (not mere allegations) of child abuse are too low to justify one. [an enquiry]
Is that what they said? How many cases is too few, and who made this judgement?
