Would it be bad of me to ask for them back?
Little Red Hen -
I would absolutely ask for them back.
Apparently you have inadvertently thrown your pearls before swine. Try to get them back before they are rudely pooped on.

Funny people those witnesses...
About 15 years ago my mom disowned my brother because he is atheist. At that time he had already been faded for well over 10 years and was married with two children.
I flew out and spent a few days with him and his family, took pictures and one came out particularly well. I decided to have a bunch of copies made. Gave one to my dad, one to each of my other siblings and several for his in-laws.
My mom showed up at my house one day demanding a picture. "I'm sorry. I didn't make a copy for you." "How can you not do that. How dare you!!. That's my family, too. Why would you humiliate me like that? BLAH BLAH BLAH"
"But mom. You've told us all that you have disowned him. You gave me grief for even going to visit them. WHY would I give you a picture? I didn't think you'd want one. Wouldn't that have been flaunting my relationghip with my brother?"
She stormed out. Crying and sobbing.
Those people. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
Bit of an opposite story, I know. But it sort of related...

2 year old daughter slips from mothers grip
by freedom96 inhere in southern california we have been just pummeled with rain.. here is the saddest story that i have heard here.. a lady is driving her vehicle with her 2 year old, and i think a 10 and 14 year old.
along comes a barrier, blocking people from driving through a flooded street.
she decides to go around the barrier, and gets stuck.

It was incredibly irresponsible to go around the barrier.
Hardly anyone goes out in torrential downpour to put up a road block just for fun - it was there for a very good reason.
She placed her children in a dangerous situation. That's child endangerment.
She may have suffered enough. Maybe not. We don't know her. We can only imagine how we each would personally feel. And I'm thinking most of us would not circumvent a barrier with our 3 most valuable possessions and charges in our cars.
Without knowing more details I would absolutely want to see charges pressed. Seems clear that the death was directly connected to her carelessness (going around the barrier). I think I would tend to charge her for the death (manslaughter), put her on probation (for xx years), and receive counselling including parenting classes.
There are too many people not taking their parenting responsibilities seriously. True, accidents will happen. But that baby would not be dead if the mother had respected the signs, turned around, and gone somewhere safer.
(Now I'll go back and read the rest of this thread...)

THANK him for boldly, faithfully, and respectfully speaking the Real Truth.
Financially: Is he in decent position/comfortable enough? Is there a way for people to donate to him and his wife? If so, where and how?
How did you come to set this appointment to meet? Special project?
Could you bring a tape recorder and transcript?
Will you post a photo?
Starting to sound like idol worship...!!! But really I am extremely grateful.
Raised in the truth in very abusive household w/ elder father. Pioneered for 3 years in my late 20's. 3rd year of pioneering started to have doubts. 5 years later I knew in my heart that what was tolerated and even encouraged in the congregation was wrong. That was about 12 years ago. I have been suffering with depression for about 25 years with the last 15 being severe (including a nervous breakdown)
Only last month I realized that I had been trying to reconcile the JW 'truth' with reality and the REAL Truth. What an amazing relief. Things clicking into place. The catalyst was an extremely brief review of COC.
I have ordered both books and my father (ex-elder) is also extremely anxious to read it. He was amazed even at the little bit I was able to share about 607.
Sorry for rambling..!! LOL Turning point in my life. The 2nd half will be so much better because of MrFranz and of course all that I have learned and experienced here at JWD. Thank You. THANK YOU!!

Some people followed Jehovah's Organization, and God killed 'em
by AlmostAtheist ingina and i were batting around how the organization calls itself "god's channel" out of one side of their mouth and then reminds everyone that they are "imperfect men" out of the other.
this allows them to claim a position of authority as "god's organization" while at the same time allowing them to make mistakes and get away with it.
(1975, "generation", all the flavors of blood, etc).

It is dangerous to have Blind Faith.
Each of us must use our God-Given(??) minds and consciences. I am looking forward to seeing how this thread develops. I remember trying to have this conversation on a few occasions when I still active. Never got to the level of discussion that I wanted.
SNG - Yup. Right on. That is the response I got.
When the time finally came that I did not agree what was preached from the platform and practiced by the members, I could no longer participate or associate with those people. I could not believe that I was even considering leaving Jehovah's organization but in my own Crisis of Conscience inately knew that I needed to distance myself.
I remember walking out of the hall, my brain numb. I knew I was done. I didn't know where I was going but I knew I would not be back in the Kingdom Hall any time soon. My prayer to Jehovah was very simple. Jehovah - you know my heart. You know this pains me. I don't want to leave but I cannot stay. You know more than I can express. You know even more than I do why I cannot be here.
My own JW Bible-trained conscience told me what was right. I had not been in contact with apostates. Never read apostate literature.
My trust in Jehovah's ability to read my heart and understand me more than I understood myself allowed me to take the time I needed to make decisions regarding what actions and stands I would make. In so many ways, my very life and the lives of the children in my care depended on it. -

I've had it....
by Country_Woman inyesterday evening my dog got an epileptic attack - peeing all over the tapestry and almost glueing at the floor with the foam at his mouth (it is very hard to remove).
after the attack he wanted to "walk" pacing up the room (and backyard) for a long time.. .
this night he was whining a lot - wanting outside... (which i allowed for at least 5 times - thus having not much sleep myself).

The part that really gets me is that they will die with out blood but not want to die in Armageddon. Why?
They view Armageddon as total, final annihilation. (No afterlife; No New System)
To die for righteousness sake (ie: refusal of blood) they die faithful and thus have a hope of resurrection to everlasting life on paradise earth.
