Why not have a VIRTUAL passover/memorial right here on the net? Someone starts a thread and everyone posts what they thinking/feeling and for an hour everyone shares it together, but remains in their own homes?

Baby Name Help - Please Respond
by adelmaal inmy husband and i are having a heck of a time coming up with the spelling for our new baby girl's name.
please pick the spelling you like and also the middle name you like and let me know.

Reagan Brooke.
Just my advice coming from someone that deals with people every day, make the name simple, easy to pronounce and easy to spell. If you start spelling names different than the norm, no one will ever pronounce it right and your child will be made fun of. I have heard so many names botched over time it's ridiculous.

I was called by a JW wanting a favor...
by Dawn inyep - you read that right.. i had a message on my answering machine - a jw i used to know long ago, left a message, wanting me to help out with some legal matters (i have worked for the criminal justice system for about 15 yrs now).. my husband just about had a cow - here's someone who wouldn't talk to me at the grocery store, but has no problem talking to me if they need something?
i thought to myself, could this person really be that nieve about human social situations - ie: if you're going to be mean to someone, don't expect a favor from them .
ok ok, i know - i should show more christian attitude, turn the other cheek, and call this person back.

Let them call someone "worldly" and pay $50 to $100 an hour for a consultation fee. There is no reason you need to do anyone a "favor" that has treated you like dirt.
It's calling playing FAIR!

Leading double life
by JustTickledPink ini ran into a young jw i hadn't seen in probably 12 years, anyways, she was the presiding overseer's daughter, perfect little jw... she's now 25 yoa, she is still an active witness and in fact a sympathizer to their crap but dressed in a low cut top, belly showing, carrying a beer, trolling for guys out a hot spot on a friday night with a "worldly" friend.. she talked to me for 5 mins and told me she had been df'd for a year but how horrible it was, she is reinstated and doing good..... but everything about her looks said she wasn't a good little jw.. i think more and more hypocrites are being raised in the organization.
i wouldn't be able to stand leading a double life, i would much rather be honest and not hiding who and what i am... but there are more young jws, including ones i would never suspect, that are jws by day, and regular people at night.
i think they are falling into the "sunday morning christians" mentality and carrying tons of guilt around with them.. i just wish they would wake up.

Cindy, why not just lie about running off and getting married in Vegas or something. As far as I know no one has ever requested a copy of a marriage certificate.
I have a cousin who got married in the Virgin Islands. They had a friend perform a ceremony and then they recorded their marriage in the front of a family Bible (just like they did 200 years ago) and then they came home "married" and she changed her name etc. For all intents and purposes they are married and have been for a few years, although they never did a license because they are a bit fringy and anti-government.
What's worse, an organization that takes your family away? or you lying or concealing something from elders?

Since you saw her, were you trolling in the same spot? Who hooked up first? lol Enquiring minds wanna know. ; )
G Money, to answer your question, I was already hooked up with my husband and 5 other friends who were out that night. I have no idea if she was trying or did "hook" up, she is a very pretty girl and by her demeanor I know exactly where she is in life, stuck in a religion and yet trying to find a life at the same time.

Not going. I quit JWs 10 years ago but ALWAYS went to the Memorial out of obligation and to please my mother.
THEN, 3 years ago she invited me but told me to drive myself and attend a memorial by myself because I had told her I would be bringing my then boyfriend (now husband) with me. She refused to ride with us all in one car to the Memorial. Even though that meant introducing an unbeliever to the Memorial. HILARIOUS... I realized I didn't need to go.
Last year she pulled the same stunt, invited me, I told her that we (as a family) would attend and my fiance would be driving, we'd be happy to pick her up, she refused, so that's it. Not ever going to go again.

Opposition to this site
by Crumpet ini have only been a recent user of this site.
the other night i explained what it was i was spending time reading online some evenings when my boyfriend is out and tried to explain how it is helping me finally let go of the jw beliefs that i have clung to for so long.
i thought he would be pleased, but he got really angry and now is very difficult any time i try to use the internet at home.

My husband told me I was "addicted" and spent too much time here, but I did. When I initially found the site I couldn't get enough, and I talked endlessly about all the similarities I found in people here compared to my own feelings... I have given myself a bit of time and kinda calmed down a bit and he doesn't say anything about it.
I think he was just in overload with it all because I was spending 2-3 hours a day reading stuff.

Is this a website promoting JW beliefs or ???
by RottiePrincess ini've lurked a bit here a few times and i still can't figure out if this is a site of devout believers who're having crisis issues or if it's an anti-jw site.
personally, i'm basically just curious.
i've been out of the wtbts for a long time now [25 yrs] but my mom is still active and some of my relatives are also.

I've been out for about 10 years but really enjoy the discussions, the topics, etc. It's for everyone but I don't anyone promotes the Watchtower society. We leave that to the active JWs like my mother! Personally I am very anti JW.

I wasn't trying to be hard on her, I am sympathetic, what I was trying to say is that the nature of the religion promotes hyprocrisy especially in their youth.
We never were friends, and I doubt I will ever see her again. I don't know any of her contact info, it was just one of those people you meet in passing. Maybe 5 years from now I will see her again and who knows, maybe she'll be out by then.
