Beatles or Rolling Stones Fan, which were/are you?
by eyeslice inperhaps you have to be one of those who grew up in the 60's to really appreciate this thread, but then my kids love 60's music too.
who did you think were the best, the beatles or the rolling stones?
is there a bit of a psychological angle here too?

Our favorite is the FL Keys. We rent a private home on Summerland key that is direct water front, ocean side. Dock, in-ground pool, hot tub, decks... very private and surounded by lush vegetation. It's only about 20 miles from Key West so you are close to the partying but yet you still have a very romantic place to stay right down the road. We always keep a rented boat at the dock.
We also rented a small beach cottage on Boca Grande for a week....that was also fantastic.
I really prefer private homes over anything else. Prices are very comparable to the nicer hotels and even less in a lot of cases. You need nothing but clothes and food. Everything else is provided, right down to Saran wrap and laundry detergent. If you figure in the cost of eating out for all your meals it makes it even more affordable. For a family with kids, the cost in food alone can be substantial.
The last time we went to the keys, the house I metioned cost us $1500 per week. It also is a 2 story house with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths so 2 or 3 couples could have an awesome vacation for cheap.
I'm not saying to rent this house, but if you do a search on the web for vacation rental homes you will find something anywhere you want to go. For us, it's the only way to go. Everywhere we vacation we rent private homes.
My idea of the ultimate Apostafest would be to rent a private island off the coast of Key West. I could get us one with multiple cottages and/or a main lodge. Maybe we could all then pose for a group photo and send it to the society to show them that we made it to "paradise on earth."

How did you brutally destroy your WT publications?
by Nosferatu inthe only wt publication i brutally destroyed was a brand new copy of the revalation book.
i was so frustrated with the religion that i ripped the goddam thing into a hundred pieces.
it was a great way to take my anger out on it.. years later when i was dating this one girl, she had a copy of that same stupid book.

better yet, a cross!
I was going to do that at first, but it gave me a funny feeling....weird huh?
I like that one... I REALLY like that one.
I think I'll start collecting them again just so I can do that!
I have, I think 6 or 7 more. Nothing special, holy spirit...., is this life all there is, etc... If I had anything rare or special I would keep it. I think I am going to hang on to my nwt...at least for now.
The "Truth" book I am saving for something special....not sure what yet, but it's gotta be good. Maybe wait until the next time we butcher a beef and dip it in the blood. (in-laws are farmers) Then throw it in with the hogs and watch them tear it to pieces and eat it. A day or so later it will be restored to the sh** from which it was formed.
Actually, I think that first box of books was kind of therapeutic. It really did relieve a little frustration. I am still mad (upset) but don't feel the hostility that I once did.
Too bad I didn't believe in that witchcraft stuff.......I could have some real fun with governing body voo doo dolls.

Let's Talk Against The Organization!
by minimus injehovah's witnesses are told to never talk against the organization.
they say that talking against the organization is the same as talking against jehovah god himself!........so, now that we have the freedom to speak our minds, say something true.

If you took all of the brain-power of the governinng body and turned it into gasoline, there wouldn't be enough to drive a piss-ants motorcycle around the inside of a Cheerio!!

Scoob, it's always in the last place you look.
Of course it's always in the last place you look....ever wonder why? Why would you look any longer after you found it, thusly, it's always in the last place you look. Sorry, no offense intended....just thought it was funny. Hope you find your wallet. I lost mine once with $400+ in it. Whoever found it mailed it back to me...anonymously of course...and minus the cash.

Nailed them to a tree (stake?) and blew them apart with multiple devices......Colt 45 with black talon shells, bushmaster AR-15, and then for the symbolic touch.....357mag with SILVER tip hollow points.
I still have a few more to deal with.

I have been on a big ice cream kick for the last 2 months. I go through 4 gallons per week (just myself)....and loads of chocolate syrup. I also have been going through 5 or 6 3 Muskateers bars per day. When I get a craving for something, I eat it almost constantly until I get a craving for something else. These food fits usually last 2 or 3 months each.
luckily I am one of those that couldn't gain a pound if I had to......still weigh the same as I did when I graduated high school 20+ years ago.

I don't think it's any secret that the ancients weren't the cave dwellers that many assume. The Egyptians certainly proved that when they built the pyramids---a feat which could probably not be duplicated even today.
This is where I tend to disagree a little. I don't think building the pyramids was as difficult as most do. Yes, it most definately is an awesome piece of work but the technology to do it wasn't a big deal. What's impressive is the scale of the project.
Let me give you a few examples of why I say this. Granted, my examples are much much smaller, but let me finish and you will see how I feel it relates.
I am one of those types that can figure out anything. I think the phrase "necessity is the mother of invention" would be applicable in my case. Not that I am extra intelligent or anything (obvious by the way I write), I just seem to have a natural ability to figure out how to do anything I set my mind to.
About 6 months ago I bought a piece of equipment for the business I am in the process of opening. A piece of industrial equipment that weighs 2400 lbs. It was loaded by a forklift onto the center of a 14' trailer. I had no clue how I was going to unload it. Everyone kept telling me I would have to rent a fork lift to unload it. They could see no other option available....neither could I at the moment. Unfortunately this wasn't really an option. It was a rented trailer that had to be returned in the morning. Eventually everyone left but me.
I pulled up a chair and just sat there. Hmmm...what to do, what to do? Anyways, to make a long story short, I figured out how to unload it and did it by myself. With only the stuff in my shop. There were no lifts, or cranes or anything like that. Unless a person is able to think waaay outside the box, you will never be able to figure out how I did it. It was simple and required very little physical strength. No one believes me that I did by myself....no equipment. They actually believe me, they are just aggravated that I won't tell how....and they can't figure it out. It was funny watching them try to figure out how to just move it on the floor a little.
Necessity is the mother of invention. I had no choice. I HAD to unload it somehow. Where there's a will, there's a way.
When refering to the pyramids, I don't think that there is anyone alive that can totally rid their mind of modern technology. Even when all of these scholars get together and try all of their theories, I would bet modern technology is still limiting the creative process. It's kind of like some of the engineers where I work. Ask them to design a multi-million dollar piece of equipment and they have no problem. Ask them to build something really simple out of junkyard parts and they can't do. They can't turn off the intelligence and turn on the creativity at the same time.
Does this make any sense?
I think the pyramids are amazing, but I also think that if you really knew how they built them you would smack yourself in the forehead and say '" DUH...why didn't I think of that!"

My Mormon buddy
by AloneinOh ini felt compelled to post this to kind of stick up for my buddy a little bit.
i'm not sticking up for mormons....only sticking up for a friend that happens to be a mormon.
some may say he is secretly trying to convert me, but he really is, just a friend that happens to be a mormon.. i am in no way endorsing mormons or have any desire to be one.

As a side note....Mb saw my copy of COC sitting on the corner of my desk at work.He picked it up and read the forward. He even read a couple sentences aloud and then asked if he could read it when I was done. I told him he couldn't have my book, but I had 5 more copies at home if he would like one. He readily accepted my offer. I am taking 2 of them to work today. One for mb and one for a friend that dis-associated himself from the Catholic church due to his own crisis of concience.
It seems that since I started opening up about my past, my friends have started showing their true colors. Real friends that sincerely care about me. It is very uplifting to realize that I really do have some true friends out there. Brings tears to my eyes to finally realize that there are people out there that sincerely care for me. I thought I was alone for soooo long.
