they are reporting an increase in publishers of 103,208 from the 2018 year.. this is what they have posted under global news on their website -.

So they baptised 300,000 but increased around 100,000, losing 200k along the way. .
However, there are around 120,000 congregations in tne world. Deaths are not unusual. If each congregation buried just 1 or 2 people in the year, that would account for a large part of them.
Perhaps the wastage is not so bad after all.?

No matter how they dress it up, it is still a grotty job. I know someone has to do it but I came to detest the assignment. Perhaps I was not suited to it but fiddling with paperwork was not my idea of Christian service.
In my day banking hours were short and it was always a problem to get rid of the cash.

he told me that in the watchtower study (10 nov 2019) regarding “the great tribulation” the elder on the platform said that there’s no need for jws to preach in every country in order to fulfil the prophecy, and therefore the org has already fulfilled that prophecy.
and that there’s nothing else left to wait for now but for “the great tribulation” to come.. gasps of delight came from the audience.. has anyone else heard this?
Magnum spoke of Community Responsibility and I have heard that expression too within the J W World as an excuse for what is properly termed “collective punishment” I.e. the punishment of a whole community for the crimes of a few ,or its leaders.
They say” The people are in agreement with the action , they deserve to die”. This is as bad as claiming that all Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus ! It is a principle used by the Nazis 80 years ago and has since been denounce as a war crime.
Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions collective punishment is considered a war crime. "No general penalty, pecuniary or otherwise, shall be inflicted upon the population on account of the acts of individuals for which they cannot be regarded as jointly and severally responsible."“
So The J W god is claimed to be no better than a war criminal on a par with Adolf Hitler or Saddam Hussain.............. As the apostle Paul might have said “ Never may That Happen!”

and nowadays the pictures are sometimes more realistic, so for any who are truly mentally in, this has a terrible effect on them and even their life choices.

I must have been an insnsitive child because the pictures of Armageddon in the old books never bothered me at all. As I grew up though there were periods when the whole concept of Armageddon seemed wrong and it bothered me . I would pull myself out of it , telling myself that "Jehovah knows what he is doing" and just get on with my JW life.
Eventually though the feelings grew stronger,together with disquiet over the exteded time period and my eyes opened to see that it was all just wrong.
Yesterday's article is horrible. It glosses over the foretold death of billons of people and portrays God as a deity to be feared rather than loved.
Also, it is so badly written. It gives no reasons for these massive conclusions . The only support is soundbite quotes from scattered scriptures which could mean many things. They do not even supply references to other WT books and articles which do discuss it greater depth.
So why should we believe it?

i was recently informed that the new jw bible was reviewed by some academic type person who rated it as one of the best translations available.. has anyone heard of this person and if so what is his reasoning for giving it such a compliment?.
BeDuhn may have complimented the NWT in some things, I believe its literalness , that was the old 1984 version. I am going from memory but he also criticised it sharply in other respects eg. The use of Gods name Jehovah in the NT where it is not found in the manuscripts .

i knew of several women who would preach at the local correctional facility.
some would do the fall in love and get married to a new convert who had a long prison sentence.
if the witnesses had half a brain they would stop this before it ever got started.
In my experience the Society tightened things up and only an elder and perhaps accompanied by a mature male would now go into a prison. I have no idea about women’s prisons.

When I was a kid we had an Assistant Congregation Servant, as they were called in those days, He was the sort of JW who would go to his business on Christmas Day, becauese it was"pagan" to treat it special. He looked with disdain on those who did not keep up to his standards , an uber-dub.
All of a sudden he dropped it all completely and became apostate activist before the internet was thought of .
In contrast, those old timers today who crack jokes about the failed expectations and don't bother if aspects of their faiith are changed by decree, they are still there plodding on in a way of life they are happy with.
