I would be very careful in what I say, he might shop me to the elders.

Resurrection after a death sentence in the OT?
by EdenOne ini have a question for those more versed in biblical history than i. .
knowing that a belief in a resurrection on messianic times was a later jewish belief ... but still ... did the ot jews believe that someone served a capital punishment / death sentence would be elegible for future resurrection?.
meaning: when coding the torah, did its writers intended that the capital punishment also be understood as an obliteration for all eternity?.

“This bears significance to me, as I'm arguing about the significance of Jehovah's Witnesses comparing disfellowshipping as being analogous to ancient capital punishment in ancient Israel.“
In the past they have certainly used this analogy but I don’t think they would be so certain now. Everything changes in WT doctrine, don’t we know, and thoughts on the resurrection are less dogmatic.
They know that some will not be resurrected but who ? Nowadays an informed Witness would simply say that is up to Jehovah and they will wait and see.

Thanks Earnest , and others, for clarification of the reporting policy. So they do report IF they think a child is at further risk. That is a big IF and a big responsibility to shoulder.
They could save themselves a lot of heat by 2 simple rule changes
1) report every allegation
2) have criminal background checks for elders and M/s

The J W’s are taking a lot of heat about this today. The report press release is critical of all the religious bodies that it investigated but the media has been quick to talk about the JWs..... not without cause I may add.
One thing, the news report said that they have a policy of mandatory reporting in Britain. I was not aware of that, I thought that since it was not legally required here they did not do it. .... can you tell me if I was wrong?

Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to "Honour your father and mother".. so should should still act as a caring daughter. Just don't expect a Christmas or Birthday gift or card.........

Is the door to door preaching work not the primary focus anymore?
by pistolpete ina few months back, one of my uncles who was an elder, asked the co, why jehovah would allow the door to door preaching work, to come to an abrupt end.
this was when my uncle was starting to have serious doubts about the organization.. the co told him to be patient, and hang in there, because the governing body was on top of things and in time would explain what is happening regarding the preaching work.. my uncle asked; “what do you mean?”.
co said; “focus on the wt study articles in the coming months” .

I think perhaps people are making a lot of this article. What it says is nothing that has not been said before, occasionally.
This is however a frank admission that in the Western developed world there is very little response to the house to house work. So are they going to stop? No , I don’t think so they make it clear that :-
“If we endure in our ministry, we will gain everlasting life. “
That is a pretty strong motivation for the dubs. They live on the promise of paradise!
I bet that whenever Covid is deemed past , there will be articles stressing that the sheep are there to be gathered in

For tne world to accept it they would have to know about it. The fact is despite tbeir presence on Roku etc , few people know about it or would download the app unless tbey were connected to them .
I had never heard of most of the channels in the article so that is true of all minority interest channels.

I was also an elder when I learned the truth about The Truth. It was hell. I did not feel I could immediately stand down, I had to lay the groundwork, but I did a few months later. My conscience would not let me continue.
Since then I have not been out in F/S , or answered up, nothing. The elders have let me be.
Of course at first I wanted to help my friends also see the light, but I realised that was not possible without ending up d/fd . I had long discussions with my wife but that’s all. Like the rest of them, they are unmoved by the facts. I now conclude that it is harder to convince a believing JW of the falsehood of their way than it is to convince a worldly person to accept JW beliefs.
Now I respect their right to believe it if they want , they can see all that I can see.

What is the Jehovah’s Witness position on Unions and Labour action?
by hoser ini remember you weren’t supposed to picket or be involved in labour unrest.
is this still the jw policy?.
-
BluesBrother
When I was working I belonged to the union. It was not mandatory but was a good idea given our low opinion of the Company bosses. There were no JW issues, I took part in ballots .We used the option not to pay a levy to the UK Labour Party.
I suppose if I had become Union Rep it may have been different.
